  CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as a professionally restored as L.D. Nimschke exhibition quality engraved Colt Lightning rifle. The barrel and magazine tube retain 97% of the silver plated finish. The buttplate retains 80% of the period nickel plating with loss mostly on the tang. The receiver, hammer, and trigger guard retain 98% of the gold plated finish showing slight loss at the tips of the receiver tangs. The wood is very fine with minimal minor handing marks and a few blemishes in the overall crisp forearm checkering. The niter blued loading gate, trigger, and screws retain most of the niter blue. Mechanically excellent. This is an exceptional, highly embellished L.D. Nimschke engraved Colt Lighting rifle presented to a prominent member of high society.
