LOT 323 British Pattern Long Sea Service Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 56 cal., 12 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. The basic Sea Service pattern was used from the mid-18th century into the early 19th century by the Royal Navy around the globe including during the French & Indian War, American Revolution, War of 1812, and Napoleonic Wars. “TOWER” marked at the tail of the lock, a “crown/GR” royal cipher and “crown/broad arrow” marked at the center of the lock, and “broad arrow/BO” stamped on top of the wrist. CONDITION: Very good with bright lightly polished metal, some scattered light freckling and a few small patches of light pitting. The period refinished stock is good with numerous scattered scratches and dents, some small chips, and lightly visible stampings. Mechanically fine. The ramrod is stuck in place. LOT 324
British New Land Pattern Cavalry Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 56 cal., 9 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. The New Land Pattern pistols in several variations were widely used by the British during the Napoleonic Wars and War of 1812, with this example made later circa 1830-1837 during the short reign of King William Henry IV. Marked with the crown over “WR” royal cypher on the lock at center, small proof and property marks on the lock, barrel, and stock, and a belt hook on the left with a captive ramrod. CONDITION: Very good, exhibiting bright polished iron surfaces, with some of the barrel markings worn, some scattered minor pitting, and crisp lock markings. The brass exhibits a bright golden patina. The stock is also very good, with numerous scattered mild scratches and dents and visible stampings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

Ketland Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 9 1/4 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. “W/KETLAND” marked at the tail of the lock, crown above “GR” royal cypher at the center of the lock, with brass furniture and an iron ramrod. CONDITION: Fine, with scattered light pitting on the iron surfaces, sharp lock markings, and attractive golden aged patina on the brass fittings. The stock is also fine with scattered scratches and dents and a crack on the right front. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
LOT 326 War of 1812 Era British New Land Pattern Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 9 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. The New Land Pattern pistols were widely used by the British during the Napoleonic Wars and War of 1812. This example is marked “TOWER” vertically at the tail of the lock just behind the sliding safety, St. Edward’s Crown over “GR” on the lock at center, small proof and property marks on the lock and barrel, “K/60” marked on the bottom of the trigger guard, and a captive ramrod. CONDITION: Good, exhibiting bright polished iron surfaces, some scattered areas of light pitting, and crisp lock markings. The brass exhibits a lightly aged golden patina. The refinished stock is also good, with scattered light scratches and dents, and a reglued cracked section at the right front of the forend. Absent securing piece on the right of the ramrod swivel. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 1,400 - 2,250

Exceptional Pair of Engraved John Dickson & Son Back Action Percussion Dueling Pistols -A) Dickson Dueling Pistol - Serial no. 4070, 50 cal., 9 1/4 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened/ blue finish, walnut stock. This pair falls within the serial number range for 1887 right among some of the Dickson guns for the famed Scottish eccentric Charles Gordon. They are classic dueling style pistols with smoothbore browned Damascus barrels, beaded dovetailed front sights, dovetailed notch rear sights, “JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET EDINBURGH” marked on the top flats, “1” and “2” respectively marked behind the rear sights, and London proof marks and the serial numbers on the undersides. The pistols are also respectively numbered “1” and “2” on the standing breeches. The casehardened breech plugs, locks, and furniture are engraved with fine scroll and floral patterns. The back action locks are signed “JOHN DICKSON & SONS.” The blued trigger guards have the serial numbers on the tangs and are engraved en suite with the other furniture. The well-figured half-length stocks have horn forend caps and checkered butts. With original brass mounted wooden ramrods. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 95% plus brown and casehardened original finish, 70% original blue on the trigger guard with some minor flaking, some small spots of minor oxidation, and generally only light age and storage related wear. The engraving and markings are crisp. The stock is also very fine and has crisp checkering and some light scratches. Mechanically excellent. B) Dickson Dueling Pistol - Serial no. 4071, 50 cal., 9 1/4 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened/blue finish, walnut stock. See “A.” CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 95% plus original brown and casehardened finish, 90% original blue finish with one small patch of flaking on the rear of the trigger guard bow, minimal light age and storage related wear including some very faint oxidation, and crisp engraving and markings. The stock is also very fine and has crisp checkering and some very minor scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,000 LOT 328 Pair of European Blunderbuss Flintlock Pistols with Brass Barrels and Locks -A) European Blunderbuss Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 6 5/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. The bores are estimated above and flare out to around 1 1/2 inches at the muzzles. Both pistols have brass multi-stage barrels and iron tangs, and rounded brass locks with no visible exterior markings. The cock, frizzen, and smaller lock parts along with the trigger and screws are the only iron components. Both guns have horn tipped hardwood ramrods. CONDITION: Fine, with an attractive golden aged patina on the brass surfaces, and dark gray and brown patina on the iron. The refinished stock is very good with scattered cracks, scratches and dents, and a few repairs. Mechanically excellent. B) European Blunderbuss Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 6 5/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. See “A” description. CONDITION: Fine, with an attractive golden aged patina on the brass surfaces and dark gray and brown patina on the iron. The refinished stock is very good with scattered cracks, scratches, dents, an absent section at the left front, and a few repairs. A small section at the front of the side plate is absent.
