Outstanding Factory Master Gravelti Signed and Engraved Bertuzzi 28 Gauge Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 7126, 28 gauge, 27 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured by the boutique firm of Bertuzzi in Gardone, Italy, and carrying on a family tradition of
fine, bespoke Italian doubles over the course of four generations, until brothers Elio and Remigio Bertuzzi retired in 2009 with no fifth generation ready to takeover. Fortunately, the firm has recently been restarted by Paolo Bertuzzi, son of Remigio, under the direction of his father and uncle allowing the proud tradition to live on. The gun has blued steel barrels featuring a single nickel bead sight on the finely matted solid rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, fine bands of engraving at either breech, and 1977 dated Italian proof marks on the flats. The coin finished sidelock action features intricate semi-relief heraldic winged lions lying in repose with broad leafy scroll, tight scroll borders, and rose blossoms erupting
forth from their mouths over a contrasting finely matted background adding to the dimensionality. The underside of the receiver features finely engraved bare breasted fairy like creatures holding a garland of roses. The triggerplate is signed “INC. GRAVELTI”, the master engraver that executed the fine decoration on this piece of art. The gun features a single non-selective trigger, bushed firing pins, and tang mounted manual tang mounted safety with a gold inlaid “SAFE”. Mounted on a highly figured, finely multi-point checkered forend with engraved coin finished fittings including the Anson style release and a straight grip stock with a blank gold initial oval and a checkered heel. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed at 14.3mm (.563 inches) and measured .568/.567 inches; choke constriction .013/.026 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.027 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 1 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 5 lbs. 6 oz.
