Exceptional and Incredibly Rare 1964 Production Curio & Relic Colt AR-15 SP1 Semi-Automatic Rifle Serial Number 770 with Factory Letter and Scope - Serial no. SP00770, 223 Remington cal., 20 inch round bbl., black finish, composite stock. The included factory letter confirms the serial number, finish, caliber, stock, and October 24, 1964, date of shipment to Chuck’s Gun Shop in Riverdale, Illinois, as a one gun shipment. The rifle
also includes an August 19, 1964, dated letter from Thomas J. Turner, the Merchandising Manager at Colt to a Mr. James Alessio. The letter details specifications of the AR-15 rifle, original price, and items included with the shipped rifles. The original sales receipts from Chuck’s Gun Shop are also included, identifying the rifle by serial number with an initial order date of August 10, 1964. The rifle has all of the correct early features including the three-prong flash hider, post front sight, bayonet lug, ventilated triangular
handguard, upper receiver without deflector or forward assist, correct unserrated bolt, fixed carry handle, two leaf windage adjustable rear peep sight, checkered grip, and fixed buttstock without the trapdoor buttplate. The rifle includes a Colt 3x AR-15 scope with the original box and July 2, 1965, sales receipt from Chuck’s Guns for the scope.

French MAS St. Etienne “MAS 223” FAMAS Semi-Automatic Rifle with Seven Extra Magazines - Serial no. SA00116B, 223 Rem cal., 20 inch round bbl., black finish, synthetic stock, plastic grips. Manufactured in Saint Etienne and subsequently imported by Century Arms as a semi-automatic version of the standard French infantry rifle from 1978 to 2016. Built as a bullpup design and making use of composite and alloy construction, the FAMAS (Fusil d’Assaut de la Manufacture d’Armes de Saint Etienne, Assault Rifle made by MAS) was one of the most distinctive infantry rifles of the Cold War. There were only an estimated 50 to 100 of these rifles imported to the United States, making this an exceptionally rare collectors item. Features adjustable blade front and peep rear sights with flip-up night sight, bird cage flash hider, integral carry handle and bipod legs, reversible cheek piece and a rubberized buttplate. Per the consignor, this rifle has not been shot since he first purchased this rifle in 1987 and fired 20 rounds.
Includes green canvas sling, generic soft case, a cleaning kit, instruction manual, and seven extra magazines.
