Attractive Belgian Snap-Action Folding Cutlass/Machete by Arnould of
Namur - Bearing the mark of “ARNOULD/NAMUR”, a Belgian cutler active in the
19th century also known for making veterinary/medical multi-tools, on the left
side of the blade, this knife measures 10 1/2 inches when closed, the edge of the blade
nesting into a fixed spine and the grip assembly, and the spine of the blade nearly flush against the handguard, with the tip partially exposed. A thumb lever on the left side of the guard holds the blade closed against spring tension, and when depressed the blade snaps out and engages a lock-back retention mechanism, for a blade length of 9 1/4 inches and an overall length of 19 3/4 inches. The steel guard and latch have fine spiral decoration on the edges, which continues onto the grips, with panels of dark horn, silver and pearl.
CONDITION: Very good, with some light spotting and areas of pitting on the steel, a drag line from contact with the latch on the left side of the blade, and mild handling marks overall. Some glued repairs are visible on the grip panels, especially the pearl sections, with a small chip absent from the left horn panel. The retention mechanisms are in good order, and the spring retains good tension. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

the blade, this knife measures 9 1/4 inches when closed, the edge of the blade nesting into
a fixed spine and the grip assembly, and the spine of the blade rests flush against the handguard. A thumb lever on the left side of the guard holds the blade closed against spring tension, and when depressed the blade snaps out and engages a lock-back retention mechanism, for a blade length of 8 1/2 inches and an overall length of 17 3/4 inches. The guard is steel construction, with a set of smooth antique ivory grip panels.
CONDITION: Very good overall, with some minor spotting and a few areas of pitting on the steel and an attractive
are in good working order, and the spring retains good tension.
Estimate: 1,400 - 2,250

Rare Engraved
James Reid New Model Knuckle
Duster Revolver - Serial no. 18269, 32 RF cal.,
2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, metal grips. Manufactured in 1883 and also known as the “Protector”, only about 360 were manufactured, falling in the
serial number range of about 18240 to 18600. A revision of the Knuckle Duster design, larger in the front to accommodate the barrel and showing an enlarged finger hole. Marked “REIDS NEW MODEL .32/MY FRIEND” on the left side of the barrel, with the serial number on the bottom of the frame and matching “69” on the rear cylinder face, cylinder pin, cylinder pin latch and underside of the barrel. Five round fluted cylinder, spur type hammer, and grooved cylinder pin. Scroll and punch dot engraving is present on the sides of the frame, with a decorative border around the checkered back strap. The frame is without a loading groove. In the catalogs of the time, this “New 5 Shot Protector” was advertised as the “Handsomest Revolver In the Market”, “Elegantly hand engraved”, and “In mechanism and finish equal to any Colt or Smith & Wesson”. CONDITION: Extremely fine. The revolver retains 90% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth dark patina where the finish has flaked. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically functions but cylinder does not always lock up. Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000

C.S. Shattuck Arms Co. Unique Palm Pistol - Serial no. 306,
32 RF cal., 1 1/2 inch irregular bbl., nickel finish, metal
grips. Manufactured between 1907 and 1915, this pistol is
marked “UNIQUE/C.S.SHATUCK ARMS CO./HATFIELD, MASS.”
on the left side. These pistols were designed by
O.F. Mossberg. The entire pistol is nickel except for
the barrel release.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 97% original nickel finish with some edge
wear on the trigger, a small patch of pitting on the underside of the barrel
and some scattered minor marks overall. 75% of the thinning original blue finish remains on the barrel release lever. Action needs work as the rotating firing pin assembly does not appear through the breech face.

Desirable Tribuzio Squeeze Palm Pistol
- Serial no. 044, 7.65 mm cal., 2 inch part round bbl., blue/
nickel finish, metal grips. Invented in 1890 by Catell Tribuzio of Turin,
Italy, with a top-loaded internal magazine and a telescoping ring
trigger assembly that collapses into itself as a safety. The pistol starts
with the bolt open and when the middle-finger
actuates the ring trigger it chambers a round
from the fixed magazine and then fires
when fully squeezed. The expended casing
is extracted on release. It is manufactured
without sights. “044” is marked on the left
barrel flat and sideways “7” over “99” on the
bottom flat, trigger, firing pin release, side plate,
and inside the frame.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 85% original blue and nickel finishes with an attractive patina on the balance and a couple minor spots of pitting. Mechanically excellent.

Very Fine Manufacture Francaise
d’Armes & Cycles de St. Etienne Gaulois No. 2 Palm
Squeezer Pistol - Serial no. 22387, 8 mm cal., 2 1/4 inch solid rib
bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. The Gaulois was
manufactured from 1895 to around 1912 by Manufacture Francaise
d’Armes & Cycles de St. Etienne (aka Manufrance) and operates on
a “squeeze fire” action with an internal magazine. The pistol has
near full coverage floral pattern etching. It has a single bead sight
on the barrel rib which is marked with the company trademark and
“GAULOIS”, a sliding dust cover marked “No./2”, “Cal.”
and “8 m/m” on top of the frame, the
round company emblem on top, a
three-position safety switch, and a hard
rubber plunger pad. The matching serial
number is on the bottom of the barrel, interior of the frame, and inside of the right sideplate. CONDITION: Very fine with 80% plus of the original finish and minor age and storage related wear. Mechanically excellent.
