Excellent Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Musket with Factory Letter - Serial
no. 571115B, 44 WCF cal., 30 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in 1903, this is an outstanding example of a Winchester Model 1873 musket with the Third Model
receiver having an integral dust cover guide and dust cover with serrations at the rear. This particular musket may have been part of the group of 700 muskets noted from the 569,000-571,000 serial number range that were shipped to Central
America in September 1903 and were apparently never issued and were re-imported to the United States in the late 1950s in near new, un-fired

Highly Attractive Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle in Desirable
.44 W.C.F. - Serial no. 193556B, 44 WCF cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The
Winchester Model 1873 rifles are known as one of the “Guns that Won the West”, and these
rifles in .44 W.C.F. were very popularly paired with a Colt Frontier Six Shooter in the same caliber, so that only
one type of ammunition needed to be sourced and carried on the frontier. Manufactured in 1885 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. The two-line address/King’s patent marking and “44 W.C.F.” is
condition. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/King’s patent marking, the “44 W.C.F.” caliber marking at the breech, and “44 CAL.” on the cartridge elevator. The upper tang has the model designation, and the serial number is on the lower tang. It is fitted with a block blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, and sling swivels on the middle barrel band and bottom of the buttstock. It is mounted with a smooth, musket-length forearm and straight grip stock with a military style buttplate. The included factory letter states
the musket was received in the warehouse on September 11, 1903 and shipped on September 18 in .44 caliber along with 694 other arms to order number 13880.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% plus of the original blue finish, 95% of the vibrant original case colors, and 99% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate with the middle barrel
band having thinned showing a grey patina and some light surface pitting. The wood is also excellent with vertical compression marked on the left of the buttstock and a few scattered minor dings and handling marks on the balance. Mechanically excellent.
on top of the barrel, model designation on the upper tang, serial number on the lower tang, and “44 CAL.” on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. It’s mounted with a very nicely figured, smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included).
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% of the original blue finish, 70% of the vibrant original case colors, and 60% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a small patch of light surface pitting on the dust cover. The wood is also very fine with some scattered light handling marks throughout. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 5,000 - 7,500

Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle in Desirable .22 Short Caliber - Serial no. 242249B, 22 short cal., 24 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1887 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. The rifle
is chambered in desirable .22 Short caliber. Winchester only manufactured approximately 19,552 Model 1873s in .22 short or .22 long between 1884 and 1904. This is
certainly a well above average condition of the .22 rimfire version of “The Gun that Won the West.” The round barrel is fitted with a dovetail German silver blade front sight and an
elevation adjustable rear sight. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight and “22 SHORT” at the breech. The cartridge elevator is marked “22 CAL/
SHORT.” The upper tang is marked “MODEL 1873.” The lower tang has the serial number. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retains 60% original blue finish and the receiver and forend cap retain 70% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The sideplates are both refinished, most likely in the period. 30% of the original case colors remain on the hammer, lever and buttplate. The reoiled wood is also fine with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
