Scarce British Proofed Colt Lightning Slide Action Medium Frame Saddle Ring Baby Carbine - Serial no. 84874, 32-20 cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1899. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address/patent dates and a carbine rear and blade front sights. The left side of the barrel is marked “32 Cal” along with British proofs and the number “300”. There is one British proof and
the Rampant Colt on the left of the receiver. All of the markings have been white filled, with various levels of retention. Mounted with a two-line
bordered smooth forearm and smooth straight grip stock with carbine buttplate.
  CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% original blue finish with the balance a mottled smooth brown and grey patina. There is some edge wear and some scattered minor dings and scratches. The
des and rear of the hammer show vibrant case colors with the top being worn bright. The wood s also very fine with some handling marks and some chipping visible near the upper tang at the frame juncture. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000
  LOT 3223 Colt London Proofed Medium Frame Lightning Slide Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Factory Letter - Serial no. 14197, 44-40 cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1886. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A/PATENTED MAY 29. SEPT. 18. 1883 MAY 26. 85. JUNE 15. 86.FEB. 22. 87.” ahead of the rear sight and “44 Cal.” on the left side at the breech. Ahead of the caliber marking is the “crown/V”, “crown/GP” and London provisional proofmarks, as well as what appears to be an upside-down “110”. The “Rampant Colt” is on the left side of the receiver, and there is a “crown/V” proof mark on the upper left front of the receiver, and the serial number is on

as 1 of 10 to Colt’s London Agency, London, England c/o Fred Schoeder on March 8, 1886.
CONDITION: Fine. The carbine retains 60% original thinning blue with scattered light spotting, high edge wear and areas of brown patina. The wood is also fine with a few minor chips on the stock toe, overall a few minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000

Colt Medium Frame Lightning Slide Action Saddle Ring Carbine - Serial no. 43944, 44-40 cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue/nickel finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1890. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A/PATENTED MAY 29. SEPT. 18. 1883 MAY 26. 85. JUNE 15. 86.FEB. 22. 87.”, “44 Cal” is marked on the left rear. The Rampant Colt appears on the left side of the frame, and the serial number on the lower tang. The carbine has the standard iron front and folding carbine rear sights. A saddle ring and staple with a leather strap are mounted on
the left side of the receiver. Blue barrel and magazine tube with nickel on the remaining parts and mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and smooth straight grip stock with steel carbine buttplate. Included is a factory letter dated August 15th, 2012, stating that no shipping information could be located on the carbine.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally restored, including the markings, with some light scratches on the receiver from the saddle ring, and overall some light handling/storage marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000 LOT 3225 Fine Colt Model 1883 Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 6924, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1893. Blued Damascus steel barrels with a single bead sight on the matted solid rib which bears the Colt address, choke constrictions of .025/.032 inches, and chambers measured 2 1/2 inches with single extractor. The casehardened boxlock action displays a light border engraving with stylized “PATENTED” marking on the underside. The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and ebony tip inlay and pistol grip stock with blank silver inscription oval and hard rubber buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 3 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 7 oz. CONDITION: Fine, showing a 85% original Damascus patterns on the barrels, 25% case colors in the protected areas with the balance a fine grey, light handling evidence, a small chip at the stock toe, and overall crisp checkering on the otherwise fine wood. Colt Model 1878 Grade 6 Side by Side 10 Gauge Hammer Shotgun with Factory Letter - Serial no. 8044, 10 cal., 32 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1881, these Colt Model 1878 shotguns would have been a popular choice for shopkeepers or those tasked with protecting stage coaches in the American West. Much like modern shotguns, these arms provided a large amount of firepower at short range, with very little
training needed to be effective. This example is a Grade 6, which could be considered a fairly utilitarian piece. The Damascus patterned barrels are
joined with concave rib hand engraved with the Colt address and the locks both have lightly engraved borders and the hand engraved Colt markings. The included factory letter lists
the engraving value as $1.75, the weight as 10 1/4 lbs., and shipment to Hartley and Graham in New York on 31 March 1881. It is fitted with a single brass bead sight and is mounted with a checkered splinter forearm with ebony insert and a checkered pistol grip stock with a blank German silver initial escutcheon and a hard rubber buttplate. Stock measurements: 2 1/8 inch drop at
comb; 3 7/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 9 lbs. 15 oz. CONDITION: Very good, showing the look of having spent many years hung behind a shopkeepers counter, the barrels mostly a smooth brown patina with distinct Damascus patterns and traces of the original case colors on the locks. The wood is fine with some scattered minor edge chips, handling marks, and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500 LOT 3227 Colt Small Frame Lightning Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 45234, 22 RF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1900. This rifle features a blade front and standing notch rear sights, two line barrel address, caliber marking on the upper left flat, and Rampant Colt on the left side of the receiver. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish with some scattered light surface oxidation, and high edge wear. The wood is fine with scattered dings and scratches as well as some darker scuffing on the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
