CONDITION: Very good with strong original finish in the protected areas and otherwise a mix of silver- gray and brown patina overall appropriate for an accurate Winchester designed for real use. Given it turned up in Kansas, it was likely used in the West for many years, but the engraving, including the historic “One of One Thousand” inscription remains crisp. The silver bands have deep aged patina. The lower tang was repaired during the period of usage with double pinned reinforcement plates on both sides
of the frame juncture. The wood is good and has attractive figure, mild wear on the otherwise distinct checkering, a chip on the upper right corner of the

wrist, small flake on the opposite side, and general minor dings and scratches. The trigger does not set; otherwise, the rifle is mechanically excellent. This is an extremely rare rifle. As shown by the ledgers, this is one of only three documented Winchester Model 1876 rifles with a round barrel!
