Documented Civil War Horstmann Model 1840 NCO Sword with Scabbard and Accessories, from the Collection of Actor and U.S.M.C. Gunnery Sargent
R. Lee Ermey - This Horstman U.S.M.C. NCO sword with
scabbard is accompanied by a custom made hardwood
wall mount indicating it is from the personal collection
of Gunnery Sgt. Actor R. Lee Ermey, in which the brass plaque states “Horstmann Phila. U.S.M.C. Sword with Scabbard/From the
personal collection of GySgt. R. Lee Ermey (1944-2018)/United States Marine Corps/This is The Gunny’s Sword. There are many like
it.../but this one was HIS.”The sword has a 26 inch blade with an etched panel with U.S.M.C. with floral patterns along with the
maker marking “Horstmann/-PHILA.-” towards the bottom of the blade. The sword is also accompanied by a notarized Certificate of
Authenticity signed by Clinton D. Ermey, Son of R. Lee Ermey that shows a picture of this sword as described., and the lot includes two frames containing pictures of R. Lee Ermey (both frames have cracked glass), a frame containing a patch, and another frame containing a patch, a round U.S.M.C. emblem and a brass plaque that says “GySgt. R. Lee Ermey/United States Marine Corps/1961-1972/India Company 3rd Recruit Training Battalion/MWSG-17”. CONDITION: The sword and scabbard are very good with general age related wear and a darkened appearance on the blade. The included accessories are all very good to very fine, with a few cracked picture frames as mentioned. Provenance: The R. Lee Ermey Collection; Property of a Gentleman.

Exceptional World War I U.S. Remington Model 1917 Bolt Action Rifle - Serial no. 565473, 30-06 Springfield cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured late in 1918. “R/flaming bomb/9-18” marked barrel with winged blade front and adjustable ladder and peep rear sights, standard receiver markings with double “eagle head” proofs on top of the left receiver rail, and a single “flaming bomb” proof on the side. “R” and “flaming bomb” marked bolt. Smooth pistol grip stock with “R” marked at the nose, finger grooves, “eagle head/339” proof ahead of the floorplate, “eagle head/300” behind the trigger guard, a hang tag nailed to the top of the butt numbered “35,” and smooth trapdoor
 buttplate. Includes “CHICAGO/BELTING/COMPANY” marked M1907 leather sling. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with some loss on the bolt and some areas of light surface corrosion. Stock is also excellent with attractive raised grain and rich oil finish, some light scratches and crisp grasping grooves and stampings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750 LOT 3477 World War II U.S. Underwood M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine - Serial no. 2373552, 30 Carbine cal., 18 inch round bbl., blue/parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1943. Features a “U” marked winged blade front and “S” marked two position flip-up rear sight, Underwood barrel dated “11-43,” type II barrel band, unmarked push button safety, “AU” marked magazine catch, “KI” marked magazine, stamped trigger guard with Ordnance bomb marked underneath, “U” marked hammer, “C U” marked blued finish flat bolt, and “.O..U.” marked slide. Fitted with “P-H” marked two-rivet handguard and high wood stock marked “M-U” in the sling inlet. Includes an olive drab green web sling and metal oiler. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% plus original parkerized finish with some light cycling wear, handling marks, and sharp markings in the metal. The bolt retains 85% of original blue finish. The stock is also fine as sanded and re-oiled, with defined and crisp edges. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
LOT 3478 U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle - Serial no. 5446667, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Receiver from January 1955 production. Features winged blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with Springfield Armory “SA” marked barrel dated “11 54,”“SA” marked bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety, and relief cut operating rod. The stock is marked with DoD acceptance cartouche and circled “P” on the wrist, with checkered steel buttplate. It
includes a green M1 web sling. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original parkerized finish with scattered handling marks. The re-oiled stock is very fine with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750 LOT 3479 Excellent U.S.M.C. Harrington & Richardson MC-58 Semi-Automatic Training Rifle - Serial no. 7197, 22 LR cal., 23 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Ordered by the United States Marine Corps, the MC-58 was intended as a small caliber training counterpart for the M14 rifle, adapting the H&R Model 65 Reising with an appropriate stock and set of sights. The top of the receiver is marked “USMC PROPERTY, MODEL MC-58/H&R MODEL #65 MODIFIED/HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, INC.” The top of the barrel is marked “= USMC PROPERTY =/HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON INC./WORCESTER, MASS., U.S.A.” and “.22 CAL. LONG RIFLE ONLY” on the left rear of the barrel. A Defense Acceptance Stamp is located on the front of the pistol grip area. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% original parkerized finish with some scattered light handling marks, some light freckling on the bolt and a few patches of light pitting on the Redfield rear sight. Stock is also excellent with a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500 LOT 3480 World War II U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle - Serial no. 2129096, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in November 1943. Features a winged blade front and type 2 “lock-bar” rear sight assembly. With a wide-base gas cylinder and cross-slot poppet valve plug. The barrel is marked “S-A-9-43” on the right side, with parkerized chamber. Includes an unmodified “D35382 6 SA” marked operating rod, “11” marked follower, and “D28287-12SA/S-A1<>” bolt. The trigger housing is marked “D28290-12-SA,” with a “C46008 5 SA” hammer, “SA-11” safety, and unmarked milled trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock bearing a boxed “S.A./E.McF.” (Earl McFarland) inspection cartouche and crossed cannons ordnance wheel stamped on the left of the wrist, with a circled serif “P” proof on the underside and smaller ordnance wheel on the bottom of the pistol grip. CONDITION: Fine overall, retaining 85% plus arsenal parkerized finish with scattered handling marks and edge wear. The re-oiled stock is also fine and has a few scattered dents and bruises, along with a section of wood missing from the left rear side of the rear handguard, and crisp cartouches. Mechanically excellent.
