Spitfire Manufacturing “Semi-Auto” Carbine, Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun, with Extra Magazines and Accessories - Serial no. 3553, 45 ACP cal., 17 inch round bbl., matte gray/black finish, hardwood stock. Developed in the 1960s, the short-lived Spitfire Carbine was an open bolt semi-automatic weapon that was found by the ATF to be readily convertible to full automatic. Retroactively declared a machine gun, most Spitfires were destroyed by their owners, with a limited number registered per the NFA. In appearance the Spitfire is made to look like the famous Thompson SMG, though the core action is essentially a tube gun version of the M3A1, including compatibility with the M3/M3A1’s magazines. Blade front and peep rear sights, with a set of alloy pistol grips, manufacturer markings on the magazine well (with the original “SEMI-AUTO” marking untouched), and a fixed buttstock. Internal parts have been deleted to set the carbine into permanent full auto operation, with an aftermarket feed ramp and an M3A1 pattern bolt installed. Included with the lot are nine extra M3 magazines, a Spitfire pattern bolt, and some small parts. CONDITION: Very fine, with 90% of the refinished blue, showing a number of light scratches and handling marks. The revarnished wood shows mild scuffs and dents. The safety is out of order, otherwise mechanically fine. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479. Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500
LOT 3505
Sentinel Arms Striker 12 Semi-Automatic Revolving Shotgun, Class III/NFA Destructive Device - Serial no. 001228, 12 , 12 inch round bbl., matte gray finish, metal stock. Originally designed by Hilton R. Walker in 1981, it was manufactured in Africa and sold as the Armsel Striker and used by the Zimbabwean Army and on a limited basis by the Israeli Army. In 1984, it was determined by the BATFE to have “no sporting purpose” per the phrasing of the National Firearms Act and designated a Destructive Device. The heart of the weapon is an 12-round spring powered revolver cylinder mated with a double-action-only firing mechanism, the former automatically rotating to the next chamber when the trigger is released, permitting a high volume of fire without being reliant on gas or recoil force to drive the action. Blade front and groove rear sights, with an ejector rod assembly and forward pistol grip on the heat shield, maker’s marks on the front of the drum housing, safety warnings on the left side of the action housing, and a top-folding buttstock with a 14 1/4” length of pull. Includes an extra fixed synthetic buttstock. CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% plus original matte gray finish, showing some light wear and handling marks overall. The furniture and action housing are in equal condition, with some light scratches. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This Destructive Device is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479, National Firearms Act. Estimate: 2,500 - 3,500 LOT 3506 S/S Inc. “Street Sweeper” 12 Gauge Semi-Automatic Shotgun, Class III/NFA Destructive Device - Serial no. SH1575, 12 cal., 18 inch round bbl., matte grey finish, metal stock. Originally designed by Hilton R. Walker in 1981 as the Armsel Striker, the Street Sweeper uses a spring driven alloy cylinder and double action trigger mechanism to provide a semi-automatic style rate of fire without restriction on ammo type in a compact package. This would be one of the few 12 gauge shotguns on the domestic market to earn the honor of being declared to lack a “sporting purpose,” making it a Destructive Device under the terms of the National Firearms Act. Features a broad groove sight in the top of the receiver, with a forward pistol grip and rod ejector on the ventilated heat shield, manufacture markings on the front of the cylinder housing, “S/S” and “Cobray” branding on the plastic trigger housing, and a top-folding steel stock with rubberized buttpad. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. Includes a web sling, original Street Sweeper advertisement, and user’s manual. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 85% plus original matte grey finish with light handling marks and scattered moderate spotting. The furniture is fine with light oxidation and handling evidence. Magazine spring is a bit stiff, otherwise mechanically excellent. NOTE: This Destructive Device is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the
provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479, National Firearms Act. 285 Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
