First Year Production Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 1320, 40-82 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. The Winchester Model 1886 was the first lever action rifle designed by legendary American gunsmith John Moses Browning and was the first Winchester repeater available that could use high power “express” cartridges. This rifle is chambered in the desirable .40-82 W.C.F. This caliber was introduced in 1885 for the Winchester Model 1885 single shot rifle also designed by Browning and was available for the Model 1886 into the early 20th century but was then discontinued. The caliber was favored by elk and heavy game hunters, but rifles in this caliber are seldom encountered due to many being altered over the last century to more available calibers. The rifle is also a first year production Model 1886 with the desirable color casehardened frame and furniture. The rifle is fitted with Lyman blade front sight (bead absent) and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The top barrel flat has the two-line Winchester address ahead of the rear sight and “40-82 W.C.F.” stamped at the breech. The upper tang is marked “”-MODEL 1886-.” The lower tang has the two-line patent dates marking and serial number. The straight grip stock is fitted with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very good as a first year production Model 1886 displaying a lifetime of working gun character. The barrel and magazine tube retain 20% original blue finish mostly in the sheltered areas with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The bolt retains 80% original blue finish. Patterns of original case colors remain on the hammer and lower tang, otherwise the remaining metal surfaces have faded to silver and gray patina. The wood is fine with minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000

Framed J. Harlan Price Colt Single Action Army and Winchester Ammunition Still Life Painting - This still
life painting pays homage to two of the Wild West’s best friends, the iconic Colt Single Action Army revolver and Winchester ammunition. The single action depicted is of the blue and casehardened variety, but, rather than the standard hard rubber or walnut grips, its owner has fit it with an attractive set of stag replacements. The revolver is leaning up against a case of Winchester ammunition with the Winchester logo partially obstructed by the revolver, but with the “W” logo in the upper corners. A Winchester banner is nailed to the wall in the background, and a lock is laying on the table in the foreground. The work is signed “J. Harlan Price” and dated “1991” in the lower left hand corner. The artwork is housed in a beautifully molded ornamental frame measuring 21 1/8 inches x 25 3/8 inches. CONDITION: Excellent overall, with limited storage and handling marks and vivid coloration.
