Fine Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle in Desirable .45-70 W.C.F. - Serial no. 16883, 45-70 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1888 with a casehardened receiver, as was standard on the Model 1886 until 1902. The standard two-line address and caliber are marked on top of the barrel. The model designation is marked on the upper tang and the two-line patent dates and serial number are on the lower tang. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight, an elevation adjustable notch rear sight, and a special order single set trigger. It’s mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. There are non-factory sling swivel studs installed on the forearm cap and bottom of the buttstock. CONDITION: Very good, retains 40% of the original blue finish and 20% of the vibrant original case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered small patches of light pitting. The wood is also very good with some scattered light handling marks and a few minor dings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500 LOT 3082 Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 49986, 45-60 WCF cal., 28 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured 1885 as a Third Model with integral dust cover guide and dust cover with grip serrations at the rear. The Model 1876 was an up-sized revision of Winchester’s Model 1873, giving consumers the option of calibers with immensely more stopping power. The top of the barrel has the two-line address and King’s patent marking in front of the rear sight and the caliber marking at the breech. The caliber marking is repeated on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. The model designation is marked on the upper tang and the serial number is on the lower tang. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an “1876” marked folding ladder rear sight. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included). CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% of the original blue finish, strong traces of the original case colors, and 60% plus of the original nitre blue, with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered small patches of light pitting. There are some tool/filing marks on the top rear of the dust cover and a band of paint on the breech end of the barrel. The wood is fine with some scattered minor handling marks and a moderate gouge on the left of the stock. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000 LOT 3083 Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle in Desirable .38-55 W.C.F. - Serial no. 513748, 38-55 WCF cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1911 with Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The barrel has the standard two-line address/patent dates and caliber markings on the upper left. The upper tang has the three-line model/trademark information, and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It is fitted with blade front and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sights. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish and faint traces of the original case colors on the lever and hammer with the balance having thinned to mostly a grey-brown patina, primarily on the receiver. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood is also fine with a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
LOT 3084 Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle in .44-40 W.C.F. - Serial no. 834821, 44 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured 1917, the Model 1892 was incredibly popular in the American West due to its variety of shared calibers with the Colt Single Action Army revolver. It has Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper left flat of the barrel has the two-line address and patent dates, and the “44 W.C.F.” caliber marking is at the breech. The upper tang has the three-line model and trademark information, and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It is fitted with a blade front sight and elevation adjustable notch rear sights. The magazine tube assembly is a modern replacement. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, and a moderate ding on the left rear of the receiver. The wood is also very fine with a few minor dings and some scattered lighter handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750 LOT 3085 Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle in .44 W.C.F. - Serial no. 448998B, 44 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The Winchester Model 1873 rifles are known as one of the “guns that won the West”, and these rifles in .44 W.C.F. were very popularly paired with a Colt Frontier Six Shooter in the same caliber, so that only one type of ammunition needed to be sourced and carried on the frontier. Manufactured in 1893 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. Two-line address/King’s patent marking and “44 W.C.F.” on the top barrel flat, model designation on the upper tang, serial number on the lower tang, and “44 CAL.” on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. Fitted with a German silver blade front and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sights. Mounted with a smooth forearm and a straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included). CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% of the original blue finish and faint traces of the original case colors and nitre blue with the balance having thinned to a mixture of grey and plum-brown patina and a series of dings visible on top of the breech. LOT 3086 Winchester Model 1895 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine in Scarce .303 British - Serial no. 62023, 303 British cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1907 with a Winchester factory oval proof on the receiver ring along with the scarce caliber marking “303” for .303 British. The left side of the receiver is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates. The upper tang is marked with the three-line model and trademark, while the serial number is marked on the lower tang along with “A”. It is fitted with a pinned German silver blade front sight, a folding ladder rear sight, and a saddle ring on the left of the receiver. It is mounted with a smooth forearm with finger grooves, upper handguard, and a smooth straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina. The wood is also fine with a few scattered light handling marks.
