Factory Master Angelo Galeazzi Signed and Goddess Diana Theme Engraved FAMARS .410 Bore Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Case - Serial no. 28948, 410 gauge, 25 15/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. In 1967 Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli founded Fabbrica Armi di Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli, more commonly known as FAMARS. Since the beginning the two have been innovators in the world of fine arms and have made a name for themselves creating some of the finest bespoke guns ever built. The gun is built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single nickel bead sight on the matted flat vent rib with is marked with a gold inlaid “I” at the base, “’Magnifici + Famars’” marked in gold on the left tube and “’Armi Famars’” on the right, wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech and muzzle, and 1972 dated Italian proofs on the flats showing 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a beautifully coin finished sidelock actions with
420 masterfully executed floral scroll engraving surrounding a trio of scenes depicting Diana, the
goddess of the hunt. The left side shows Diana and four maidens at rest in a garden with her dog, the right has Diana and four maidens and dog again at rest with Diana having her feet washed by two of the maidens, and the underside depicts Diana alone with her dog on the hunt. Both the left and right scenes are signed “Galeazzi ‘71” and again just “Galeazzi” on the triggerplate for highly renowned Italian Master Engraver Angelo Galeazzi. The gun features a single non-selective trigger and a manual tang mounted safety with gold inlaid “Safe”. The gun is mounted with a gorgeous highly figured and multi-point checkered forend with coined and engraved fittings including the Anson button release which has a gold inlaid “I” and an inlaid FAMARS crest as well as a pistol grip stock with teardrop carved drop points, “JBE” inlaid in gold directly into the wood, and a checkered bare butt. Included is a second matching set of 26 inch .410 bore barrels with gold “II”s in place of the “I”s. Also included is an oak & leather takedown case that houses the set. Stock measurements: 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; slight cast-on; weight 5 lbs. 15 oz.
