Factory Master Angelo Galeazzi Signed and “Primitive Hunter” Engraved FAMARS 28 Gauge Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 30005, 28 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a single nickel bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is marked “Armi Famars”, 1972 dated Italian proofs, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays a bestial carved toplever and beautiful floral scrollwork encompassing a trio of game scenes consisting of a pair of “primitive” hunters in a forest hunting a bear on the left, a pair of hunters recording their kill on a cave wall on the underside, and the pair of hunters defending their kill from another with their village in the background. The work is singed by renowned Italian Master Engraver Angelo Galeazzi on either lockplate
and the triggerplate. The gun features a single trigger, bushed firing pins, and a manual tang mounted safety with gold “S” indicator. The wood is highly attractive and multi-point checkered for the beavertail forend which has coin engraved fittings and a gold FAMARS crest and the straight grip stock with teardrop carved drop points and a checkered bare butt. Includes an oak and leather takedown case with factory label. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed and measured at 14.3mm (.564 inches); choke constriction .002/.002 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.026 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 12 oz.
