World War II Yoder Co. U.S. M1 57mm Anti-Tank Gun with Carriage, Class III/NFA Destructive Device - Serial no. 2356, 57 mm cal., 112 1/2 inch round bbl., green finish. This is a desirable example of a Yoder Co. manufactured U.S. M1 57mm anti-tank gun with carriage. Over 15,000 of these were reportedly manufactured for the war effort between 1942-1945. This example is dated 1942 on the left of the breech. These more powerful 57mm M1 anti-tank guns were intended as the replacement for the previous M3 37mm anti-tank gun due to rapid improvements in enemy tank armor, and saw effective use in the European Theater. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 99% later applied green finish with some light handling marks. Various components on the gun and carriage are welded stationary for display purposes. Mechanically non-functional in its current state, with breech welded shut and plugged bore. NOTE: This Destructive Device is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479, National Firearms Act.
