The main armament is a 105mm Royal Ordnance L7 rifled gun (deactivated), with secondary firepower provided by two 7.5mm Swiss Mg 51 machine guns (not included). Power is delivered from a MTU Mercedes-Benz 837 Ba-500
V8 diesel engine producing approximately 630-660 hp, which propels this approximately 90,000 pound behemoth of a tank up to 34 mph, with an operational range of around 160 miles. The turret features 120mm thick armor, with a single cast hull. These tanks were all retired from service by the mid- 1990s when the Panzer 87 “Leopard” fully replaced them, and the majority were ultimately sold for scrap, with this example offered being a rare survivor. CONDITION: Very good, retains 85% of the green painted finish, with some scattered areas of flaking and some surface corrosion on the balance. The interior is also very good with most of its components (not all mechanically tested). The serviceable tracks are very good with mild wear. Mechanically runs fine. Main gun deactivated. This massive Swiss Pz 61 main battle tank is a rare item that would make a fine addition to any military collection!
