Whitley further notes: “This is probably the best
conditioned pair of Manton’s you will ever see.”
CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. The barrel retains
95% plus of the period refinished “tobacco brown”
finish and distinct twist patterns along its length
along with bright gold inlaid markings. An equal
amount of the original case colors remain, and
90% plus of the refurbished blue finish remains.
The silver escutcheons display untouched age darkened patina. There is minimal handling and storage type wear and some scrapes on the frizzen. The ramrod tip is broken. The stock is very fine and has crisp checkering, smooth finish, attractive figure and minimal wear mainly on the left side where it rested against the case. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are fine with mild age and storage related wear mainly on the case exterior.
