“L. C. SMITH Monogram GRADE” at the base, “SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL” and “MADE TO ORDER BY THE
HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. FULTON. N.Y.” marked on the right and left tubes respectively, wedges of scroll engraving at either breech, and 2 1/2 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The
barrels are fitted to a to a casehardened sidelock action which displays near full coverage scroll
engraving surrounding “L.C. SMITH” inlaid in gold on either lockplate as well as a pair of doves on the left side, a mallard on the underside, and a matching
set of doves on the right side. The engraving continues onto the toplever, tangs, and triggerguard, which displays a gold inlaid Gothic “L”. The gun features a Hunter One Trigger and a tang mounted manual safety with a gold inlaid “S” indicator. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and fancy fleur-de-lis checkered
splinted forend with engraved fittings and an ebony tip inlay as well as a straight grip stock with serrated buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the
breech .615/.612 inches; choke constriction .027/.025 inches; minimum wall thickness .029/.032 inches; 1 11/16 inch drop at comb; 2 11/16 inch drop at heel; 13 13/16 inch length of pull; weight

CONDITION: Very fine as professionally upgraded, retaining 99% blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence, a few marks in the wood, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.

were capable of. The gun was built with blued steel barrels featuring dual bead sights on the matted concave solid rib, light engraving at
the breech, and chambers measured 2 3/4 inches with single extractor. The barrels are matted to a casehardened sidelock action which displays extensive scroll engraving
covering nearly the entire surface surrounding “BAKER GUN Co.” inlaid in gold on either side and two game scenes consisting of a setter ready to flush a pair of quail on the left and a pointer poised to flush a pair of woodcock on the right. The watertable is marked with a gold inlaid “DELUXE”.
The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is mounted with a exceptional highly figured
and fancy fleur-de-lis checkered splinter forend with engraved shoe and a carved ebony tip inlay along with a pistol grip stock with carved stepped drop points, a
rosewood grip cap, and a factory hard rubber buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .722/.721 inches; choke constriction .039/.041 inches; minimum wall thickness .039/.039 inches; 1 13/16 inch drop at comb; 2 13/16 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 14 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally upgraded, retaining 99% blue finish, traces of original case colors in some of the protected areas with the remaining brushed bight, light handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. stock. The Baker Gun Company was once among the top American makers of double
guns and was part of what was known as the “Big 6” along with Parker Brothers, A. H. Fox, L.C. Smith, Ithaca, and Lefever. The Deluxe Grade gun was the finest produced by Baker and shows off the exceptional skill and precision
that the artisans at the company
