Each side of the action features an oval panel with a gold inlaid
hunting dog in a field scene, two gold inlaid pheasants in a field scene in a circle on the bottom, and
the trigger guard has a gold inlaid dogs head. The water table is jeweled, Winchester proofed and marked with “MADE IN U.S.A.”“MODEL 21” is over the address. Single gold trigger with selector, tang mounted manual safety and mounted with a nicely figured fleur-de-lis checkered walnut pistol grip stock with engraved, gold inlaid wire bordered, gold inlaid “GRAND/AMERICAN” metal grip cap, leather wrapped recoil pad and gold initial oval inscribed “J/E/Y”. The set is complete in a hard leather Winchester takedown case with leather corner protectors, gold “J.E.Y.” embossed leather tag on the outside top of the canvas cover, gold embossed “J.E.Y.” on the
lid, Winchester label on the inside of the lid and maroon felt lining. Length of pull is 14 inches. The accompanying factory letter confirms the
configuration as well as the second barrel
set and states the shotgun was built for
James Edward Young and finished on
October 5, 1972.
CONDITION: Excellent plus. 98% plus
original blue/gold inlaid finish overall;
including the extra set of barrels, with only
slight handling/storage marks. The wood is
also excellent with slight handling marks.
Mechanically excellent. The canvas cover
is fine with some light staining and wear,
and the case is excellent. One will look a
long time to find a finer example of a much
sought after Grand American Model 21!
