Beautiful Framed Portrait of a Hunter with a Wheellock Arquebus Painted by Alex de Andreis - This painting shows a hunter armed with a wheellock arquebus or rifle clad in a red coat with lace collar and cream cape and a black hat. It is signed “De Andreis” in the lower right. The painting measures approximately 28 by 23 inches and is set in a 42 3/4 by 38 inch gold painted wooden frame and features a brass plaque reading “CHASSEUR AVEC
SON ARQUEBUSE/PAR/ALEX DE ANDREIS”. Alex de Andreis (1880-1929) was a Belgian painter working in the UK and specializing in portraits depicting the 17th century. CONDITION: Very good with distinct imagery and rich colors, some crackling of the oil paint, and
chips on the frame.
