Very Scarce Magazine Carrier Backpack for the Johnson Light Machine
Gun, with Twelve Magazines - Constructed from tan canvas
with leather reinforcement at the bottom corners, this backpack was a companion piece for the scarce Johnson Light Machine Gun, configured to hold 12 magazines (240 rounds). The origin of the pack is unconfirmed, although it
is believed to have been possibly made for the U.S. 1st Special Service Force, as it shows some slight signs of period use. No markings are present, with a pair of snap closures securing the top flap, canvas dividers to keep the magazines protected and vertically oriented, and a set of four straps to secure at the front and rear of a soldier’s web belt.
CONDITION: Very good, with some mild wear and stains overall. Estimate: 5,000 - 8,000
      CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% plus original parkerized finish, showing mild wear and spotting. The wood is also excellent,
with some scattered dings and scuffs. The grip safety
is absent, with a small filler piece in its place; otherwise, the item is mechanically excellent in both semi- automatic and full automatic modes. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3,
which is registered with
the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that
is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
