Factory Engraved Gebruder Merkel Model 303EL Hand Detachable Sidelock Over/Under Shotgun - Serial no. 51986, 12 gauge, 31 7/8 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. The gun was built with blued Bohler Antinit steel barrels featuring a single (second rear bead removed) white bead sight on the matted flat vent rib, “GEBRUDER MERKEL, SUHL” marked on the left of the chambers, attractive scroll engraving around the breech, 1960 dated German proofs, and 3
  inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a highly attractive coin finished bolstered hand detachable sidelock action which displays deep cut scroll engraving with floral designs on the bolsters surrounding “GEBRUDER MERKEL” in a banner on the underside before continuing onto the triggerguard, toplever, and both tangs. The gun features a single selective trigger and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered three-piece forend with
engraved coin finished fittings as well as a pistol grip stock with black polymer grip cap and a Kick-Eez recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore
diameter nine inches from the breech .733/.736 inches; choke constriction .024/.037 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.021 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 2 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence. There is a crack at the lower rear of the forend; otherwise, the wood is very fine with some scattered marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 7,000 LOT 1440 Factory Game Scene Engraved Gebruder Merkel Hand Detachable Sidelock Over/Under Combination Gun with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 47787, 16/7x65R gauge, 25 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Beaded blade front sight, flip-up rear sight, and a pair of German style claw mounts holding a Zeiss Diatal 6x42mm scope on the matted solid rib, light engraving at the breech area, 1960 dated Austrian proofs, and chambers with ejectors. The shotgun barrel has a 2 3/4 inch chamber and choke constriction of .029 inches. The coin sideplates action displays scroll engraving on nearly all sides with “GERBRUDER MERKEL/ SUHL” on the underside. The gun features dual triggers (front is single set), cocking indicators, and a tang mounted manual safety. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered three-piece forend and pistol grip stock with rear sling swivel, black grip cap, and Wegu rubber recoil pad. Includes a leather sling. Length of pull 14 1/2 inches. Weight 9 lbs. (with scope). CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% original blue and coin finishes with handling marks concentrated near the muzzle, some discoloration on the action, and crisp engraving. Wood is very fine with a few dings and scratches and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Optics clear, reticle crisp. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000

Gebruder Merkel Model 200 SC Boxlock Over/Under Shotgun with Case - Serial no. SC1037, 12 gauge, 30 inch vent rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with blued Spezial Laufstahl barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the matted vent rib, standard markings and import mark near the breech, 1995 dated German proofs, choke constrictions of .006/.007 inches, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a richly casehardened boxlock action which is unadorned aside from the Suhl insignia on the underside and features a single selective trigger, cocking indicators, and a manual tang mounted safety. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with casehardened fittings as well as a pistol grip stock with black polymer grip cap and a Pachmayr Old English recoil pad. Included is a wood and canvas takedown case, nickel oiler, snap caps, and cleaning tools. Stock measurements: 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 3 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and casehardened finishes with a few scratches on the action and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
