Exceptional Factory Jim Blair Engraved
N. L. Heineke Sidelock Dangerous Game Double Rifle - Serial no. 33, 450/400 3 1/4” cal., 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Nathan Heineke first entered the gunmaking business working for the United States’ oldest and most storied custom rifle gunmaker, Griffin & Howe. After some years with the firm he struck out on his own setting up
significant time abroad, and a Heineke import mark under the forend. The barrels are mated to a casehardened bolstered sidelock action which displays beautifully executed traditional bouquet & scroll engraving surrounding “N. L. HEINEKE, INC.” signatures on either lockplate and a mix
of bright and nitre blue pins. The engraving is signed by engraver Jim Blair on the triggerplate to the right of the triggerguard. The rifle features bushed firing pins, double triggers, right hand
shop in Laramie, Wyoming, and began building extremely fine sporting arms. This rifle was built with blued steel barrels featuring a beaded blade front sight on a raised base, three leaf (one standing, two folding) rear sight marked 50, 100, and 150 yards with gold center lines on the rear quarter rib, and front sling eyelet on the under rib. The gun is signed “N. L. Heineke INC. 201 S. 2ND STREET LARAMIE, WY. US.” on the top rib between the front and rear sights, “450/400 3 1/4’” marked at the left chamber, Birmingham proofs indicating the rifle spent
rolled triggerguard, cocking indicators on either lockplate, and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid “SAFE” indicator. The rifle is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi- point checkered forend with engraved fittings and Anson button release as well as a pistol
grip stock with teardrop carved flats, raised cheekpiece, gold inscription oval marked “M/J/F”, rear sling eyelet, and a leather covered recoil pad. Includes a soft rifle case and two extra front sight blades. Length of pull 14 7/8 inches.
