  LOT 1052 Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 227043B, 38 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1887, the Winchester Model 1873 is known as one of the “guns that won the West” and was popularly paired with a Colt Single Action Army revolver in the same caliber. This Model 1873 is a third model, with the integral dust cover rail and dust cover with gripping serrations at the rear. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/King’s patent marking, and the caliber is marked at the breech. The caliber marking is repeated on the bottom of the cartridge elevator, serial number is on the lower tang, and the model designation is on the upper tang. It is fitted with a set of “sporting” sights including a German silver blade front, elevation adjustable buckhorn rear, and a Lyman peep sight mounted on the upper tang. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate containing an included four-piece cleaning rod. CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% plus of the original blue finish, 50% of the vibrant original case colors on the lever and hammer, and 30% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of light pitting. Very Fine Winchester Model 1901 Lever Action Shotgun - Serial no. 77423, 10 gauge, 32 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1917. The Model 1901 was a redesign of the Model 1887 shotgun offered in 10 gauge only, and production serial numbers began at 64856. Production began in 1901 and lasted until 1920. Offered here is a very fine example. Any high condition Model 1901 is difficult to find, as Winchester had trouble with the heat treated receivers taking the blue finish. The barrel features a single bead sights and modified marked choke. The left side of the barrel has the standard Model 1901 legend, and the left side of the frame has the “WRA CO.” logo. The upper tang has the three-line trade mark information. A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver at the breech. Mounted with a two-piece forearm and round knob pistol grip stock. The stock is fitted with a checkered steel buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance, specks of rust, and traces of original blue finish remaining on the buttplate. The wood is also very fine with a couple of gouges on left side of stock and minor scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000 LOT 1054 Very Fine Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Musket in .44-40 W.C.F. - Serial no. 571249B, 44-40 WCF cal., 30 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1903, this musket is a third model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. This musket may have been part of the group of 700 muskets noted from the 569,000-571,000 serial number range that were shipped to Central America in September 1903 and were apparently never issued and were re-imported to the United States in the late 1950s in near new, un-fired condition. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/ King’s patent marking ahead of the rear sight and the caliber marking at the breech. The model designation is marked on the upper tang, and the serial number is on the lower, with the caliber designation repeated on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. It has the distinctive 30 inch barrel fitted with a block base blade front sight/bayonet lug and a military pattern folding ladder rear sight. It is mounted with the full length forearm that is retained with three barrel bands and a straight grip stock with sling swivels on the middle and the bottom of the buttstock, which is fitted with a trapdoor military pattern buttplate containing an included five-piece cleaning rod. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish, 70% of the original case colors, and 95% plus of the original nitre blue on the loading gate with some scattered patches of brown patina accompanied by some light pitting. There is a protective coat of varnish overall. The wood is fine with some scattered minor dings and compression dents. Mechanically excellent. LOT 1055 Winchester Model 92 Lever Action Carbine - Serial no. 938404, 32 WCF cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1921-1928. It has a pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring staple on the left side of the receiver (ring absent), standard Winchester markings including the factory oval proof on the barrel and receiver at the breech, and carbine forearm and buttstock. Missing the saddle ring. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 80% original blue finish with smooth “flaked off” brown patina on the balance. The wood is excellent with some minor handling marks. LOT 1056 Documented Antique Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Takedown Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 40565, 30 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1898, the included factory letter states the rifle was received in the warehouse on August 1, 1898, and shipped on August 4 on order number 1213 with an octagon barrel in .30 caliber, and plain trigger (no mention of takedown). The letter indicates the rifle was repaired and returned on two separate occasions: October 22, 1898, on order number 11498 and November 1, 1898 on order number 13436. The rifle is fitted with a dovetail blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, and a Lyman receiver sight. The top barrel flat has the two-line address marking ahead of the rear sight and “30 WCF” at the breech on the top flat and the two-line nickel steel marking on the upper left flat. The upper tang has the three-line model/patent date marking. The underside of the frame has the serial number. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine, retaining 70% original blue finish with thinning to a brown on the balance. The takedown collar has an artificially applied brown patina. The wood is also fine with a surface chip near the toe and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Property of a Distinguished Southern Clergyman. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500 LOT 1057 Very Fine Garate Anitua y Cia El Tigre Model 1892 Style Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine - Serial no. A20354, 44-40 WCF cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood stock. Manufactured c. 1915-1937, with production reportedly significantly disrupted during World War I while Spanish arms manufacturers cranked out handguns for military contracts by the thousands. These carbines were sold commercially in Spain, with many being utilized by police forces, and many were shipped to South America to satisfy a growing market. The standard Garate Anitua address is on top of the barrel along with the “CAL. 44 L” caliber marking, meaning “44 Largo”, the Spanish name for .44-40 W.C.F, with “SPI.” stamped below it. The tiger trademark is on the left side of the frame, and the serial number is on the bottom. The three-line model marking is on the upper tang. It is fitted with a blade front sight, elevation adjustable Marble’s rear sight, saddle ring on the left of the receiver, and sling swivels on the lower barrel band and buttstock. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor steel buttplate (cleaning rod not included). CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish with some thinning on the barrel bands and 50% of the original case colors with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered light spotting. The revarnished wood is fine with some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
