    LOT 3238 Jover Flintlock Brass Barrel Blunderbuss with Side Folding Snap Bayonet - NSN, 18 gauge, 14 1/4 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1780 and featuring an approximately 18 bore brass barrel that flares to 1 inch at the muzzle with a side folding bayonet with a 9 inch blade secured and released via a sliding switch at the center of the “Jover” signed lock, Ordnance private proofs flaking William Jover’s maker mark on the left, “Jover” signed on top at the breech, raised relief shell carving, acorn trigger guard finial, and martial and floral engraving. CONDITION: Very with attractive aged patina on the brass, mottled gray and brown patina and light pitting on the lock and bayonet, crisp carving, a few cracks in the stock, and general mild wear overall. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,750 - 4,250 LOT 3239 Engraved Oxborrow Flintlock Blunderbuss with Snap Bayonet - NSN, 10 gauge, 21 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1810. The lock is signed “OXBORROW”, possibly for Edward or James Oxborrow of Woodbridge. The iron barrel is marked with “crown/P” and “crown/V” proof marks flanking a star stamp on the upper left at the breech and flares out to about 1 1/4 inches at the muzzle (gauge estimated). A 16 inch folding bayonet is mounted on top. The furniture featured light engraving and an acorn trigger guard finial. The stock has a horn forend tip and a checkered wrist. CONDITION: Very good with mottled gray patina and extensive light pitting along the lock and barrel, aged patina on the furniture, and general mild overall wear, including scrapes and dings on the stock. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000 LOT 3240 Fine British Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss with Snap Bayonet by Spencer - NSN, 16 gauge, 14 1/4 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in the late 18th century to early 19th century. Signed “Spencer” on the lock. The barrel flares to about 1 1/4 inches at the muzzle (bore estimated above) and has turned accents and is mounted with a folding snap bayonet with 10 3/4 inch blade. The furniture is brass and includes some light engraving, including an acorn trigger guard finial. CONDITION: Fine with patterns of case colors mixed with dark brown patina visible on the lock, dark brown patina on the bayonet, attractively aged patina on the brass, and mild overall wear including scratches and dings on the stock. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,750 - 4,250 LOT 3241 Engraved Flintlock Brass Barrel Blunderbuss with Snap Bayonet by Collis of Oxford - NSN, 8 gauge, 14 inch part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. John Collis of Oxford was active c. 1782-1798. The brass barrel has turned girdles, London proof marks flaking the “I-C” maker’s mark at the breech, and has a 10 1/2 inch folding bayonet secured and released via a sliding lever on the barrel tang. The gauge is estimate. The bore flares to 1 3/8 inches at the muzzle. The lock is signed “Collis/OXFORD” under a festoon” at the center and has some additional light engraving and a sliding half-cock safety. The furniture is iron and includes a acorn trigger guard finial and engraving. CONDITION: Fine with dark aged patina on the barrel, dark gray and brown patina on most of the iron, traces of case colors on the lock, repaired cock, and general mild wear. The refinished stock is also fine and has crisp checkering and mild dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500
LOT 3242 Engraved I. Lane Flintlock Iron Barrel Blunderbuss - NSN, 6 gauge, 20 1/2 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. mid-18th century. The large iron barrel has turned accents and faint markings at the breech. The bore is estimated and flares out to 2 inches at the muzzle. The rounded lock appears to be signed “I = LANE” in a banner at the center and has some scroll engraving. The brass furniture has scroll and foliate patterns, and the stock has raised relief carved scroll accents. CONDITION: Good with mottled gray and brown patina and pitting on the lock and barrel, attractively aged patina on the brass, and general moderate wear. The refinished stock is good with distinct carving, a few repairs, general scrapes and dents, and split in the forend tip. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500
LOT 3243 Engraved Clarkson British Iron Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss - NSN, 15 gauge, 20 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This 18th century blunderbuss has a faint “LONDON” mark on top of the barrel, two pairs of proofs on the upper left at the breech, and “CLARKSON” signed on the lock. The muzzle flares to just over an inch at the muzzle, and the bore is estimated above. The furniture is brass and features scroll designs, including a scrolling sideplate, and the wrist escutcheon features a crest with an eagle and snake over a cap of maintenance. The stock has raised relief carved shell carving at the barrel tang. CONDITION: Good with mottled gray patina, light pitting, and worn markings on the iron and attractive aged patina on the brass furniture along with mild wear. The refinished stock is also good and has mild scratches and dings and distinct carving. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000
