Engraved and Silver Mounted and Inlaid Henry Delany “Queen Anne” Flintlock Pocket Pistol - NSN, 50 cal., 2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Henry Delany of
London was active c. 1715-1746. Blackmore in “Gunmakers of London, 1350-1850” notes Delaney as a maker of “fine breech loading sporting guns and silver-mounted pistols”. This pistol is a
classic “Queen Anne” pattern with cannon shaped screw-
off barrel, lock built into the breech, and frizzen spring folded between the cock and priming pan. The breech has scroll and border engraving and is marked “LONDON” on
top, signed “H-DELANY” on the lower right, and has a London
proof mark and “fleur-de-lis/HD” maker’s mark on the underside. A sliding safety is behind the cock. The figured butt has raised floral carving at the tang, silver wire inlays, and silver mounts, including a wrist escutcheon with a mask design and inscribed crest and a
green man mask pommel cap with further engraved mask and sheet of music. Includes a May 16, 1965,dated receipt for
Norman R. Blank from Jackson Arms for the pistol.
CONDITION: Very good with an older re-blued finish on the barrel, dark gray and brown patina on the breech, spots of minor oxidation, stress lines in the neck of the cock, attractively aged patina on the silver mounts and inlays, and mild overall wear. The butt is fine and has attractive figure, distinct but partially smoothed carving, and light dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.

pierced scroll pattern side plates, and a crest of a lion head and ducal coronet. The full-length walnut stocks have raised molding and trefoil carving in coordination with the trigger guard finials. CONDITION: Good, age worn and cleaned throughout with mild pitting on the barrel, darker patina on the lock, crack in the neck of the cock, and attractive dark aged patina on the silver. The stock is good with a repaired forend, some chips, and mild dings and scratches. One pommel spur is sprung from the stock. Mechanically fine. B) H. Delany Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 10 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. CONDITION: Good, age worn and cleaned throughout with mild pitting on the barrel, darker mottled gray patina and light pitting on the lock, a small crack in the neck of the cock, and attractive dark aged patina on the silver. Pair of Silver Mounted Flintlock Pistols by Henry Delany -A) H. Delany Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 10 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. Henry Delany of London was active c. 1715-1746. Blackmore in “Gunmakers of London, 1350-1850” notes Delaney as a maker of “fine breech loading sporting guns and silver-mounted pistols.” This pair of pistols are examples of the latter and feature three-stage, swamped, smoothbore barrels signed “H. DELANY” with silver front sights, “fleur-de-lis/HD” maker’s marks and unclear proof marks, gold lined vents, and foliate engraving and sighting grooves that extend onto the tangs. The rounded locks are each signed “H./DELANY” at the center and have light engraving. The furniture is silver with scroll and foliate designs, grotesque masks on the pommel caps,
