Exceptional Cased Pair of Engraved Percussion Dueling/Target Pistols from Thomas of Paris -A) Thomas of Paris Percussion Pistol - Serial no. 4024, 45 cal., 9 3/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/gray finish, walnut stock. Both of these pistols from the second half of the 19th century were manufactured in Liege and retailed in Paris by Thomas. They are numbered “4024” and have dovetailed front sights, “f p Thomas Bte a Paris” inscribed on the top flats, notch rear sights on the standing breeches, scroll engraving, relief scroll carving and fluting on the stocks, and shared hardwood case with “THOMAS ARQR. BTE./21 PASSAGE DE L’ORME/A PARIS” in gilt letters inside the lid, and a suite of loading and maintenance tools.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 90% original blue finish, smooth gray on the lock and furniture, heated color on the hammer and generally minor overall wear. The stock is also very fine and has crisp carving, scattered scratches and dings, and general light wear. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are fine with minor age and storage related wear mainly on the case exterior and fading on the lining.
B) Thomas of Paris Percussion Pistol - Serial no. 4024, 45 cal., 9 3/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/gray finish, walnut stock.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 95% original high polish blue finish, smooth gray on the lock and furniture, and generally only minimal age and storage related wear. The stock is also very fine and has crisp carving, minor scratches and dings, and generally light wear.
Mechanically excellent.

Cased Pair of Engraved German Blancke Dueling/Target Percussion Pistols -A) Blancke Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal.,
10 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, hardwood stock. Both pistols are fitted with dovetailed blade front
and notch rear sights. The casehardened locks are signed “E. BLANCKE IN NAUMBURG a/s.” around the rear of the hammers. The hammers are decorated with a finely engraved fish
head motif. The top flat of the swamped Damascus barrels
                                                  is marked “E. BLANCKE.” on one pistol and “IN NAUMBURG
a/s.” on the other. The locks, sideplates, hammers, and barrel tangs are engraved with floral scroll designs, and the breech plugs are engraved with an arrow and crossed torches. Includes green lined wooden case containing a mallet/starter, combination tool, oiler, bullet mold, and powder flask. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% original brown finish with some light flaking at either end of the barrel, 60% original
case colors with some areas muted, and crisp engraving.
Stock is also very fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with a professionally repaired crack running beneath the lock and sideplate, some light handling marks, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent. Included case is very good as sanded and refinished with some scattered light handling marks,
a chip at one of the corners, and light wear to the lining.
B) Blancke Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal., 10 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, hardwood stock.

CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus original brown finish on
