Gold Inlaid John Rigby & Co. Bolt Action Magazine Rifle - Serial no. 10337, 6.5 x 55 mm cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured with a sightless barrel marked “J. Rigby & Co. London, England” on top and “6.5x55mm” between British proofs dated 2011 on the right side of the chamber. The action is marked “MADE IN/ENGLAND” on the left and “CAL./6.5x55”
on the right and fitted with a pair of scope rings on top, an engine turned bolt with checkered panels on the bolt handle and casehardened cocking shroud. The floorplate features “CAL.6.5x55” inlaid in gold and the trigger guard has the serial number in gold. Mounted in a nicely figured and contrasted multipoint checkered walnut pistol grip stock with blued steel grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, silver initial escutcheon engraved with the Rigby monogram and solid red recoil pad. Includes a black nylon sling. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 97% original blue finish with an attractive plum coloration on the barrel and receiver, some minor handling marks, spotting on the bolt, and overall crisp stock checkering. LOT 3511 Krieghoff Bockbuchsflinte Combination Gun with Extra Barrel and Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 68760, 7x57 R cal., 25 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued Bohler steel barrels with gold bar blade front and folding leaf rear sight on the solid rib, 16 gauge shotgun barrel with .22 conversion insert installed, bore diameter of .668 inches, and choke measuring improved modified over a 7x57 mm R barrel with light floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background. The barrels are topped with a Carl Zeiss Diatal-D 4x32 mm scope. The coin bolstered sideplated action displays full coverage floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background, gold washed double triggers, and tang mounted manual safety. Mounted in a wonderfully figured skip line checkered walnut forend with engraved fittings and Deeley release and pistol grip buttstock with plastic grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, and removable horn buttplate covering a cartridge trap. Includes a Vero Vellini sling and second 16 gauge shotgun barrel set with 2 3/4 inch chambers and chokes measuring cylinder/improved modified, and a chamber insert .22 caliber conversion unit. 16 gauge barrel set measurements: bore diameter .665/.669 inches, minimum wall thickness .032/.033 inches. Length of pull 13 7/8 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 4 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 97% plus refinished blue on the barrels with some pitting under the finish. The action shows some minor handling marks, some oil staining, and crisp checkering. Wood is very fine with dings and scratches concentrated on the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. Optics clear, reticle crisp. The extra barrel is very fine with some handling marks. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
LOT 3512 Engraved Roy Vail Signed Model 98 Bolt Action Sporting Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 017, 275 cal., 20 1/2 inch part round solid rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Built by world renowned gunsmith Roy Vail on a commercial model 98 action. The barrel is fitted with ramped beaded blade front and two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear sights on the solid rib. The rib is hand cut “ROY VAIL. WARWICK N.Y.” with a small flourish at the breach and a leafy ring around the chamber. The receiver is engraved with light
Germanic scroll and a stipple matted panel on the ring. The floorplate is cut with a highly detailed water buffalo scene. The right receiver rail and the floorplate are signed by Vail. The action is fitted with a Paul Jaeger scope mount holding a Lyman All-Weather Alaskan scope and double set triggers. Mounted in a nicely figured multipoint checkered walnut pistol grip Mannlicher stock with horn forend and grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, inlaid initial escutcheon engraved “M”, and a checkered Neidner buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine as built by gunsmith and engraver Roy Vail, retaining 98% plus blue finish with a few minor handling marks and crisp engraving. The stock is very fine with some dings and scratches, and a few hairline cracks off the bottom metal. Mechanically excellent. Optics clear, reticle crisp. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000 LOT 3513 Bottega C. Giovanelli Engraved Rizzini Pyrrum Over/Under Double Rifle - Serial no. 82845, 8x57 JRS cal., 23 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blue steel barrels with red fiber optic front and rear sights with a raised quarter rib at the breech end for scope mounting, an import mark, 2012 dated Italian proofs, and mid rib mounted sling loop. Coin action with light floral scroll engraving surrounding game scenes of a red stag on the left and a boar on the right with a roe buck on the underside beneath “PYRRUM” which is signed on the triggerplate “Bottega C. Giovanelli” for the Italian firm. Fitted with a single trigger and manual tang safety. Mounted in a straight grain, multipoint checkered walnut forend with Anson button release and pistol grip buttstock with Bavarian cheekpiece and Decelerator recoil pad. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue and coin finishes with some minor handling marks, a couple minor spots on the quarter rib, and crisp engraving. Wood is very fine with a few minor dings and scratches and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
