Engraved and Relief Carved William Buchele 1962 Contemporary Half-Stock
Flintlock Rifle - NSN, 40 cal., 30 inch octagon bbl., brown finish, curly maple stock. The patchbox lid is inscribed “Wm. Buchele/
GUNSMITH/1962” and is engraved with a bow and arrow design. The straight octagon barrel is signed “W. Buchele” and has a globe front sight and folding adjustable notch rear sight. The
lock is also signed “Buchele” and has light engraving. The mounts are brass and nickel-silver and feature primarily floral engraving along with a spread wing eagle and shield motif on the cheekpiece
inlay, and the curly maple stock has some incised molding and attractive relief carving, including raised relief scrolls flowing off of the cheekpiece. The front trigger presses forward to set the rear trigger.
CONDITION: Fine with gray and brown patina on most of the iron, some light oxidation, dark aged patina on the brass, distinct engraving, resurfaced frizzen, distinct stock carving, attractive flame figure, and
minor overall wear. Mechanically fine.

Attractive Engraved and Silver Inlaid Contemporary Ohio Half-Stock Percussion Rifle by Don King in 1976 - NSN, 32 cal., 34 inch octagon bbl., brown/blue/bright
finish, curly maple stock. This rifle is similar to the work of the Vincent family in Ohio and was built in 1976 by U.S. Marine Corps veteran and award winning gunmaker Don King
(1930- 2018). The rifle’s straight octagonal barrel is signed “For L.D.H. 76 By Don King” (recipient’s initials and the year in a silver panel) and has dovetailed blade and notch sights, a “SCHILLINGER” lock
with scroll engraving, pewter forend cap, engraved silver escutcheons and inlays including an “H” inscribed wrist escutcheon, double set triggers, spurred brass trigger guard, engraved brass patchbox with
pierced finial and silver wire inlays, and a highly figured and beautifully shaped curly maple half-stock.
CONDITION: Excellent as custom made overall with 95% plus original finish, attractively aged patina on the silver inlays and brass mounts, some minor handling marks and scratches, crisp engraving and
markings, and beautiful figure on the stock. Mechanically excellent.

Engraved, Incised Carved, and Inlaid Contemporary Rupp Flintlock Rifle by G. Kieffer - NSN, 50 cal., 42 inch octagon bbl.,
brown/casehardened/antiqued brass finish, curly maple stock. This rifle is based on originals by Herman Rupp (1756-1831) of the Lehigh Valley in
Pennsylvania and was built by George Kieffer (1941-2021) of Temple, Pennsylvania. The straight octagon barrel has blade and notch sights and is signed “* G. Kieffer *”. The lock is unmarked. The mounts
are brass, and the curly maple stock features incised carving and molding, a nickel-silver Lehigh lady inlay ahead of the trigger guard, and inlaid brass wire and pin accents.
CONDITION: Very fine overall with nearly all of the original finish, minimal wear, and crisp engraving and carving. Mechanically excellent.

Attractive Engraved and Relief Carved “Patriotic
Theme” William Buchele Contemporary Flintlock American Long Rifle - NSN, 45
cal., 42 3/8 inch octagon bbl., brown finish, curly maple stock. William Buchele was one of
the most significant earlier “contemporary” American riflemakers in the 20th century. He was active in the 1950s to 1970s and wrote “Recreating the American
Longrifle” which has served as a guide for generations of subsequent builders and has helped keep the crafting of traditional American muzzle-loaders alive. The
rifle has traditional blade and notch sights, “W Buchele” signed on the top flat, “Buchele” marked lock, brass furniture with nice engraving, “1776” inscribed patchbox lid,
German silver and brass accents, a spread wing eagle and shield motif with a “WE OWE ALLEGIENCE TO NO CROWN” inscribed banner, raised relief carved scrollwork, and a
rendition of Paul Revere’s ride on the left side of the butt.
CONDITION: Very fine overall with 85% plus of the original brown finish with some light fading, generally minor overall wear, aged patina on the mounts and inlays, a thin crack
on the left edge of the forend towards the midsection, minor overall wear, attractive figure, and distinct carving and engraving. Mechanically fine.

Cased, Engraved, Inlaid, and Relief Carved 20th Century Flintlock “Kentucky Pistol”
by William Buchele - NSN, 45 cal., 8 1/8 inch octagon bbl., brown
finish, curly maple stock. William Buchele (1895-1977) was a
talented and influential 20th century artisan who produced a wide
array of muzzleloading firearms and related items such as powder
horns and tomahawks. He has remained highly influential as the
author of the book “Recreating the American Longrifle” which has
helped guide other generations of rifle builders. This pistol’s rifled straight
octagon barrel has a dovetailed silver blade front sight, dovetailed notch rear sight, and “W. Buchele” signed on top. The
barrel and Russ Hamm “MASLIN/WARRANTED” lock have an antiqued brown finish. The furniture is brass and primarily features
scroll and floral engraving. There are also nickel-silver inlays. The curly maple stock has scroll and floral carving at the barrel
tang. The pistol comes in a fitted wood case with a loading rod, balls, antique flask, flints, ball mold, and punch.
CONDITION: Very good with most of the original “antiqued” brown finish remaining, aged patina on the mounts, and minor
age and storage related wear. Mechanically fine. The case and accessories are also very good.
