CONDITION: Very fine. The carbine is all original and retains 90% of the
original nickel-plated finish. The blue finish on the barrel and magazine
has faded to a smooth, plum-colored patina. The barrel legend is
light but fully legible. The barrel bands, receiver and buttplate have
nearly 85% of the nickel-plated finish. The nickel-plated finish has
some scattered and very minor flaking on the barrel bands, receiver
edges, bottom of the lever and buttplate. The flawlessly executed
scroll engraving is sharp. The stock and forearm are both in very fine
overall condition with minor handling and storage marks. Mechanically
excellent. This is a very fine example of a rare, nickel-plated, factory
engraved Winchester Model 1866 carbine signed by factory Master
Engraver Conrad F. Ulrich.
Provenance: The Quail Creek Collection.
