U.S. Colt Model 1901
Double Action Revolver with
U.S. Holster - Serial no. 167146, 38 long
Colt cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1901. The bottom of the
frame is marked “U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1901/No/167/146.”
The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address and patent markings
on top and “COLT D.A.38” on the left. “R.A.C.” inspectors marks are stamped on the
upper left rear corner of the frame, the rear of the cylinder and the bottom of the grips. The frame,
cylinder crane and cylinder unlocking latch have matching numbers. Smooth walnut grips numbered
“7146” (last four digits of serial number) in ink on the rear of both panels, with no visible cartouches.
It has the Colt high polish blue finish overall with the heat blued trigger and hammer with the sides
of the hammer being factory polished. Includes a brown leather holster marked “ROCK ISLAND/
ARSENAL/1905/ T.C” on the back, “G.V” on the flap and “US” on the front with lanyard.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% of the bright original high polish blue finish remaining. A mixed plum
and gray patina is forming on the backstrap and trigger guard and gray on the high edges, along with
some light scratches and spotting. Grips are also excellent. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very
fine, with some scuffing and scratches.

World War I U.S. Smith
& Wesson Model 1917 Army Double
Action Revolver - Serial no. 39267, 45
ACP cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured in 1918. Fitted
with half moon front and frame notch rear sight.
The barrel is marked with “S.&W. D.A. 45” on the left,
“UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on the underside, and the
S&W address on top. The frame is marked on the left with the Ordnance bomb at
the top and an “eagle’s head/S6” proof. Matching serial numbers are marked on the
butt, cylinder, and barrel.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish with limited handling marks,
and a cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with a few minor pressure dents near
the butt. Mechanically excellent.

Rare and Fine Unaltered Antique U.S. Navy
Contract Colt Model 1889 Double Action
Revolver - Serial no. 20851, 38 cal., 6 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in
1892 according to the butt number, as found on page
335 of “The Book of Colt Firearms” by Sutherland/Wilson.
The Model 1889 Navy revolver is historically significant as both
the first Colt double action with a swing-out cylinder and the first double action
revolver adopted by the U.S. military. Lacks the 1895 cylinder and locking system,
updates that were added to many of the Navy contract revolvers. Features rounded
blade front and top strap notch rear sights, two line Colt address and patent dates (1884 and
1888) on top of the barrel, and with “star/X” Navy proofs stamped on the left of the frame, cylinder latch,
back of the cylinder, on the crane, and under the barrel. Matching “103” assembly numbers marked on the
frame, barrel, crane, cylinder, and cylinder latch. The butt is stamped “U.S.N./anchor/.38D.A./No/20/851/P/HHE/1892”. Fitted
with a correct pattern pair of smooth unmarked walnut grips.
CONDITION: Fine retaining 40% plus original blue finish with thinning on the balance revealing smooth brown and grey
patinas, some minor spotting/freckling, and mild handling marks. The grips are also fine as re-varnished. Mechanically fine.

Colt Model 1896
Double Action
Revolver - Serial no. 140830,
38 Long Colt cal., 6 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1900. Features rounded blade
front and topstrap cut notch rear sights, two line
Colt address and patent dates roll marked on top of
the barrel with the caliber on the left, “R.A.C.”
inspection stamp on the back of the cylinder and
left of the frame, and “U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1896/
No/140/830” marked under the butt. Matching “0830”
partials on the frame under the crane, the crane, and on
the cylinder latch. Fitted with a pair of smooth oiled walnut grips, with “1900”
over boxed script “JTT” on the left panel, “R.A.C.” under the butt, and boxed
script “RAC” on the right panel with matching “0830” partial written in pencil
on the underside.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 85% plus original blue finish with some light
thinning on the backstrap revealing mostly grey patina, minor edge wear, a
light cylinder drag line, and some minor spotting/freckling. The grips are also
very fine with defined cartouches. Mechanically excellent.

Documented U.S. Army Colt Model 1917
Double Action Revolver - Serial no. 303755,
45 ACP cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured under contract
for the United States Army in 1920 per the frame
number, 1918 per the butt number. The butt number
falls within the 151,801 to 154,800 serial range of
3,000 revolvers sent to the U.S. Army Reserve Depot of South Schenectady, New
York, on February 19, 1919, as listed on page 410 of “Colt .45 Service Pistols” by
Charles W. Clawson. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, two line
Colt’s address, model designation, and U.S. property mark on the barrel, Rampant
Colt logo and “eagle head/S15” proof on the left of the frame, along with “U.S./
ARMY/MODEL/1917” and “No/151/833” marked on the bottom of the butt. Fitted with a pair of
smooth oiled walnut grips with matching “303755” written on the interiors in pencil.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original brushed blue finish with some minor edge wear, some minor thinning on the
grip straps with grey patina, a minor cylinder drag line, and otherwise limited minor handling marks. The grips are very fine
as sanded and re-oiled. Mechanically excellent.
