Rare and Exceptional Colt Paterson No. 1 Ring Lever Percussion Revolving
Rifle - Serial no. 24, 38 cal., 26 1/8 inch octagon bbl., brown/blue finish, walnut
stock. This exceptional Colt Paterson No.1 Ring Lever rifle was manufactured by the
Patent Arms Mfg. Co. in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1837. The No. 1 Ring Lever rifle is
important as the first firearm produced by Samuel Colt. Only approximately 200
No. 1 Ring Lever rifles were manufactured in total between 1837-1838. Surviving
examples are extremely rare. This No.1 Ring Lever rifle has the identifying frame
top strap, and an eight-shot cylinder. Their are a few features on this example
differing from standard No. 1 Ring Lever examples witnessed.
