Excellent Presentation Cased Colt
Third Model Dragoon Percussion
Revolver - Serial no. 13663, 44 cal.,
7 1/2 inch part octagon bbl., blue/
casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips.
This revolver was manufactured
in 1853 but evidently remained
on hand at Colt until the outbreak
of the Civil War. Greg Lampe
indicated that during Charles
Pate’s research for his book on
Colt Dragoon he found this
revovler listed in Colt’s records as
rejected by U.S. Army inspectors
and sold to J.P. Moore’s Sons on
August 20, 1861, in a shipment
of 28 guns. It was purchased by
Arnold Chernoff in the 1970s
and sold to Chet Burnoswki who
owned it until 2000.
