Documented Silver Mounted Miniature Pair of Ripoll
Miquelet Pistols with Pouch Holsters Illustrated in “One
Hundred Great Guns” by Merrill Lindsay -A) Ripoll Miquelet
Pistol - NSN, 36 cal., 3 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut grips. This
diminutive pair of pistols is feature on page 71 of “One Hundred Great Guns” by Merrill Lindsay and
are notes as from Ripoll in Spain and described as: “Miniature pair of kit pistols have grooved and
fluted barrels. The stock inlays are silver with a rampant lion and scroll design. The little pistols (about
5” long) are miniatures of the heavy horseman’s pistol of the same 1670 era. Joe Kindig Jr. Collection.”
The pistols are functional pocket pistols of the same basic design as the larger pistols made by
Spanish gunmakers. The barrels are smoothbore and have a top rib on the front sections and series
of ribs on the breech sections. The silver stock inlays include putti, foliate scroll designs, and rampant
lions. They come with the wine colored velvet pouches as shown in the book.
CONDITION: Very good with gray and brown patina, minor pitting, attractive aged patina on the silver,
loose replacement pin on the trigger guard finial, general mild wear, and some chips and repairs on
the stock. Mechanically fine. The pouches are good with age and storage related wear.

CONDITION: Very good with gray and brown patina on the lock and barrel along with minor
pitting, attractive aged patina on the silver, general mild wear, and chips and repairs on the stock.
Mechanically fine.
