LOT 1426
Rare Adler Semi-Automatic Pistol with
Presentation Case and Accessories - Serial
no. 1332, 7.25 mm cal., 3 1/2 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, plastic grips. Developed around
1915, the Adler or Haeussler pistol is a straight
blowback semi-automatic using a proprietary
7.25mm cartridge and a hinged dust cover assembly
for easy field stripping and cleaning. Only approximately 100 of
these pistols are believed to have been made. Mechanically, the pistol
shows a strong resemblance to the work of Hugo Borchardt and Georg
Luger, especially in the sear striker assembly, the overall shape of the
frame and the grip angle. Blade front and notch rear sights, with a tapered
barrel, safety switch on the left side of the frame, and “PATENT HAEUSSLER/
ADLERWAFFENWERK/ENGELBRECHT & WOLFF” on the right side. Numbers
match on the frame, barrel, top cover and bolt. With a pair of checkered
grips with imprinted eagle designs. Included with the pistol is a hardwood
presentation case, one extra magazine, one round of ammo, a cleaning rod,
and papers.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 95% of the professionally restored blue finish, showing small areas of gray and brown
patina, bright edge wear and mild spotting and handling marks. The grips are fine, with minor scuffs and dings.
Mechanically excellent. The case is very good and shows mild wear.
Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500
LOT 1425
Fabrique Nationale Model 1903 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Desirable Matching Shoulder Stock and
Extended Magazine - Serial no. 14368, 9 mm cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock, horn grips.
Developed in 1902 and also known as the “War Model”, the 1903 was a John Browning design that found military
and police buyers, both contract and private purchase, across much of Europe, seeing active use into the 1940s
and even during a brief window in the 1980s as a Swedish stopgap between the emergency retirement of the
Lahti pistol and the acceptance of the Glock. As was the style of the time, a shoulder stock was optional, though
with a novel mounting method; two rail slots are cut into the bottom of the grip frame, and the stock slides onto
the bottom, acting as an extended magazine well for a long magazine. The magazine serves as a reinforcement
for the stock, giving a significantly more rigid mounting that many other stocked pistols. Blade and notch sights,
with the two line FN address and Browning patent marks on the left side of the slide, Belgian proofs on the
slide, barrel and frame, and a pair of checkered FN-marked grips, properly shortened to accommodate the rails.
The underside of the slide is numbered to match the frame, as is the underside of the barrel and the blued steel
mounting iron of the stock. The stock interior is cut to accommodate the pistol, a magazine (both normal and
extended will fit) and a cleaning rod. Two magazines, one each of the standard “pistol” length and extended
“carbine” lengths, are included, as is a blued steel cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% original blue overall, showing some dings on the rear of the slide and frame,
edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are fine, with some red residue in the checkering and mild scuffs,
and the refinished stock is fine with cracking in the wrist, most of the refinished blue remaining on the hardware,
and mild dents and scratches overall. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500
