According to "The 36 Calibers of the Colt
Single Action Army" by Brown, only 44
Colt Bisley Flattop Target Model revolvers
were chambered for .32 Colt.
The caliber designation “32” is stamped on the underside of the barrel just in front of the
frame. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt three-date/two-line patent
marking followed by the encircled Rampant Colt trademark. The assembly number “183” is
stamped on the inside of the loading gate. A “W” inspection mark is stamped in the hammer
slot. The full serial number is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back
strap. The partial serial number “475” is stamped on the rear face of the cylinder. All of the visible
serial numbers match.
CONDITION: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% of the original blue finish. There is some minor edge wear
on the muzzle, ejector housing and cylinder. The back strap and grip strap show light handling wear with
thinning blue finish. There is some very minor surface spotting on the right side of the frame ahead of the
cylinder. The hammer retains 95% of the original color casehardened finish. The grips have faded slightly
and have a deep brown patina but remain excellent. All of the markings are crisp. Mechanically excellent.
This is an outstanding example of a rare documented .32 Colt Bisley Model Flattop Revolver.
Provenance: The Gateway Collection.
Estimate: 25,000 - 40,000
