Very Scarce Colt New Service
Civilian Model of 1917
Commercial Double Action
Revolver with Factory Letter - Serial no. 335826, 45 ACP
cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This is one of only
1,000 of this variation of the New Service model revolver produced. The
accompanying factory letter states the revolver was shipped to Shapleigh
Hardware Co. of St. Louis, Missouri, with a 5 1/2 inch barrel in .45 ACP, blue
finish, and type of stocks not listed on July 7,1932. This was a 500 gun shipment. It
has standard markings and is fitted with blade and frame notch sights, checkered
hammer, smooth trigger, and checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with mild muzzle wear,
some thinning on the back strap, tiny patch of pitting on side plate, and a few shallow
dings on the butt. The grips are also excellent with a few slight nicks along the high
edge and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Colt Officer’s Model King Super Target Double Action Revolver
- Serial no. 550532, 38 Special cal., 6 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish,
checkered walnut grips. Manufactured in 1950. King Super Target vent
rib with a blade King front sight ahead of an angled mirror and integral
target adjustable rear sight. Grooved trigger. “COLT-KING SUPER TARGET”
marked on the left of the vent rib, “OFFICERS MODEL TARGET/.38 SPECIAL
CTG.” marked on the left of the barrel. Highly figured period custom diamond
checkered walnut grips.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as upgraded by King, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with
muzzle and edge wear, thinning on the back strap, and a cylinder drag line. The grips are very fine with
some handling marks and crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent.

ahead of an angled mirror and integral
target adjustable rear sight. Grooved
trigger and checkered King Cockeyed Hammer. “COLT-KING SUPER TARGET” marked on the left of the
vent rib, “OFFICERS MODEL TARGET/.38 SPECIAL CTG.” marked on the left of the barrel. The side plate
is inscribed with the name “Leon Paulo.” Plain finger groove period custom hardwood grips.
CONDITION: Fine as upgraded by King, retaining 75% original blue finish showing holster and edge
wear and cylinder drag line. The slightly ill-fitting grips are very good. Mechanically excellent.

Police Heavy Barrel King Super Target
Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter
- Serial no. 736332, 38 Special cal., 6 inch vent rib
bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Factory letter states
the revolver was shipped to King Gun Sight Co. of San
Francisco, California, on September 24, 1947 with a 6 inch
barrel in .38 Special caliber, blue finish, and type of stocks
not listed. This was a 39 gun shipment. King Super Target
rib with blade front sight ahead of an angled mirror and
integral target adjustable rear sight. Checkered trigger and
King hammer. “COLT-KING SUPER TARGET”
marked on the left of the vent rib. Nicely
figured hardwood checkered finger
groove grips.
CONDITION: Very fine as upgraded by
King, retaining 98% of the refinished blue
finish, slight muzzle rub and light cylinder
drag line. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Colt Officer’s Model
Double Action “SUPER TARGET” Revolver with
Factory Letter - Serial no. 495658, 38 Special cal., 6 inch vent rib bbl.,
blue finish, walnut grips. The included factory letter confirms some of
the revolver’s current configuration, except for the listed Patridge sights
and barrel length of 7 1/2 inches, including .38 caliber chambering, blue
finish, and type of grips not listed when sent in a lone shipment to the City of
Toledo Division of Supplies in Toledo, Ohio, on September 1, 1923. Features a
Colt-King Super target vent rib fitted with King “Ramp Reflector” blade front and
notch rear sights, a widened checkered hammer spur, the standard one-line Colt
address on top of the barrel, model and caliber markings between Maltese crosses on
the left of the barrel, Rampant Colt on the left of the frame, along with “triangle/VP”
and “3” on the left side of the trigger guard. Matching visible serial numbers on the
frame and crane. Fitted with a set of over-sized checkered walnut
finger-groove grips and a black rubber Pachmayr grip adapter on
the front strap.
CONDITION: Very fine as Colt-King upgraded, retaining 85% plus
original blue finish with some light edge wear, a minor cylinder
drag line, a few minor visible patches of freckling, and some minor
handling marks. The grips are excellent crisp checkering and slightly loose grip adapter. Mechanically excellent.
