Rare Factory Engraved Parker Brothers 16 Gauge
BHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 143353, 16 gauge, 28 inch
solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1907
as one of just 34 produced in
this configuration, one of the
finest grades available from
Parker Brothers, according to
page 309 of “The Parker Story”
by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price,
and Cote. this gun was built with blued barrels featuring
a dual white bead sights on the matted concave solid rib which is
marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CONN. ACME STEEL.”,
band of engraving at the breech, and 2 9/16 inch chambers
with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened size 1 frame boxlock
action which displays beaded fences and three highly attractive game scenes surrounded by scrollwork. All three game scenes
depict a pair of pointing dogs in a field scene rendered in fine detail. The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted
automatic safety. The gun is fitted with a highly figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings as
well as a pistol grip stock with fleur-de-lis carved drop points, fancy checkering, “George A. Tweedy” engraved in the gold
inscription oval on the grip cap, and a red rubber recoil pad. The above configuration is confirmed on page 407 of “Parker Gun
Identification & Serialization” by Price and Fjestad. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the
breech .674/.672 inches; choke constriction .017/.024 inches; minimum wall thickness .016/.018 inches; 1 3/4 inch drop at comb; 2 11/16
inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally refurbished, retaining 98% blue and casehardened finishes, some loss on the lower tang, minor handling evidence,
and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. A rare chance to own one of these beautiful American shotguns!

Scarce Factory Engraved Parker Brothers 20 Gauge DHE Grade Double
Barrel Shotgun with Extra Barrel Set - Serial no. 195898, 20 gauge, 26 inch
solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1921
as one of just 469 produced in this configuration per the chart on page 291
of “The Parker Story” by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote. The grade,
gauge, barrel length, and ejectors below are confirmed on page 491 of “Parker
Gun Identification & Serialization” by Price and Fjestad, the extra barrel set is
not noted. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the
matted flat solid rib which is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT.
U.S.A. TITANIC STEEL”, light engraving at the breech, and chambers measured
2 5/8 inches with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the size “0”
casehardened boxlock action which displays standard DH Grade engraving
consisting of floral scrollwork surrounding a trio of game scenes depicting a setter in a field on the right, a
quartet of pheasant cocks on the underside, and a pointer in a field on the left. The gun features double triggers and a tang
mounted automatic safety. The gun is fitted with an attractively figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with
engraved fittings as well as a pistol grip stock with carved flats, factory hard rubber grip cap, blank silver inscription oval, and
an engraved skeleton buttplate around a checkered butt. Included with the gun is a second matching numbered 20 gauge
barrel set which measures 28 inches and features 2 5/8 inch chambers and its own splinter forend. Barrel measurements
for the 28 inch set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .625/.623 inches; choke constriction .025/.030 inches;
minimum wall thickness .021/.020 inches. Barrel and stock measurements for the 26 inch set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches
from the breech .620/.621 inches; choke constriction .013/.023 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.022 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop
at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; slight cast-on; weight 6 lbs. 3 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall as professionally refurbished, retaining 98% blue finish, 70% casehardened finish with some
muting and fading, some minor oxidation at the breech, recut engraving, some light dings and scratches, and sharp checkering
on the wood. 28 inch barrel forend remains original with a small chip on the left side. Mechanically excellent.
