Ben Lane Jr. Each gun in the set displays gorgeous near

inlaid bands at the muzzle, breech, and rear of the cylinder, as well as gold borders around the
hammer and sides of the frame. Both guns also display a detailed semi-relief inlaid bison on the
loading gate and a bust of a Native American warrior opposite it on the recoil shield. The guns are
signed on their respective butts “BEN LANE JR. - ENGRAVER” in a banner set amongst scroll, and
the backstraps are inscribed “John F. Bickley”. The guns are both fitted with a highly attractive set
of ivory grips with scrimshawed “JFB” monograms on the right panel for gun “A” and the left panel
for gun “B”. Included with the set is a two gun presentation style case with brass plaque reading
“Colt Single Action Army 45’s/serial numbers/44644 44645/Engraved Especially For JOHN F.

reading “JOHN F. BICKLEY/LOCKNEY/TEXAS/TEXAS RANGER COMMER. COMM.” The identity of Mr.
Bickley is uncertain, though there is a John F. Bickley Jr. and a John F. Bickley III whom were active
members of the community at the time of presentation in this area, though which man received
these guns remains a mystery.
