LOT 1372
MK Arms MK760 Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. S0138, 9 mm cal., 7 1/2 inch
round bbl., matte gray phosphate finish, metal stock. Originally manufactured by Smith & Wesson as the Model 76, which in turn
was designed to fill the same niche as the Gustaf M/45 “Swedish K” SMG, the MK Arms MK760 is a lightweight and agile weapon
for close quarters fighting and, in the initial S&W incarnation, was a go-to weapon for the American special warfare community
in Vietnam. Brought to market in 1983, the passage of the 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act killed both the 760 and MK Arms
in general, resulting in a very limited window of transferable production. Protected post front and notch rear sights, with the MK
Arms markings on the magazine well, a combination barrel nut and ventilated heat shield, ambidextrous “SAFE”/”SEMI”/”FULL”
selector, and a checkered pistol grip. A left-folding buttstock with rubberized covering is installed. Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% plus original matte gray phosphate finish, showing some light scuffing and handling marks on the
metal and furniture. The safety needs adjustment (pulling the trigger with the safety engaged causes the switch to slip off the “SAFE” position and the weapon to fire), otherwise mechanically fine. NOTE: This weapon is a National
Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
Estimate: 8,500 - 13,000
LOT 1371
Charles Erb Mark 4 (L2A3) Sterling Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully
Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. E762, 9 mm cal., 8 inch round bbl.,
textured black finish, metal stock. The successor to the STEN Gun of World
War II fame, the Sterling was essentially the peak of “tube gun” weapon
design, and would serve as one of Great Britain’s go-to close combat weapons
through the Cold War and beyond. This example was commercially produced
by noted American NFA manufacturer Charles Erb as a “STENling” (a grouping of Sterling
components installed on a modified STEN tube receiver). Blade front and two-leaf rear sights, with the Erb address, “bullet” logo and serial number on the
left side of the ventilated tube, “DGS” on top of the tube, Sterling markings and “N(broad arrow)Z” New Zealand proof, on the magazine well, right handed
three position “A R S” selector switch, checkered grip, and an underfolding stock. Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Very fine as assembled and refinished, with 98% of the Erb-applied textured black finish, showing minor wear and handling marks overall, and a few
dings and scuffs on the grip. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
