French Hotchkiss 25mm Model 1934 Anti-
Tank Gun with Carriage, Class III/NFA
Destructive Device - Serial no. 915, 25 mm cal.,
71 inch round bbl., blue finish. Manufactured by
the Hotchkiss arsenal in France in 1934, per the
date marking on top of the breech. Offered here is
a 25mm Hotchkiss Model 1934 anti-tank gun with
carriage. These saw use with various countries
including France, Germany, United Kingdom,
Italy, Finland, Romania and Spain, and in various
conflicts such as the Spanish Civil War, Winter War,
World War II and the Indochina War. While rapidly
advancing tank armor throughout World War II
limited their effectiveness, these 25mm Hotchkiss
guns were still able to be effectively used against
weak spots and in an anti-personnel role. Their
portability was an advantage, as they could be
towed behind light vehicles or in the back of a
truck (the first type of artillery piece to be used in
this manner), and could be quickly set up. The top
of the breech has the “1934” date marking along
with the Hotchkiss maker marking, caliber, and
serial number. The tube measures approximately
75 inches overall, with a 71 inch inside bore
length, with overall measurements including the
carriage approximately 150 inches long by 43
inches wide by 47 inches tall.
CONDITION: Fine overall, retains most of the
military applied blue painted finish, with some
scattered spots of flaking, some scattered
freckling on the exposed metal areas, and
handling marks. Mechanically fine. Scope is
also very good with clear optics. NOTE: This
Destructive Device is a National Firearms Act
(NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered
with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18
U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
Estimate: 9,500 - 16,000
