CONDITION: Very fine,
retaining 98% original blue
and coin finishes with minor
freckling and dried grease
on the barrels, and minor
handling evidence. The wood
is very good with some
light dings and scratches,
buttplate cracked at toe, and
overall worn but well-defined
checkering. The case and
extra barrel set are very fine,
with a damaged latch on the
case. Mechanically excellent.

Fine Framed Sellier & Bellot Cartridge Display Board - The main
body of the display is finished in white velvet, with a border made out
of shotshells (combination of high brass and paper in construction,
primarily centerfire with some pinfire rounds), and a central field
showing a mix of centerfire, pinfire and rimfire cartridges, caps, and
fuses, with a brass “SB” plaque surrounded by gallery cartridges and
very small bore shotshells, an image of the company factory near the
bottom, and a printed ribbon marked “Zundtutchen- und Patronenfabrik
vorm. Sellier & Bellot/Schonenbeck a. d. Elbe” at the bottom. Celebrating
their bicentennial in the ammunition trade this year, Sellier & Bellot
established a percussion cap plant in Schoenenbeck in 1829, which
would later become a center for rimfire, pinfire and centerfire cartridge
manufacturing as technology evolved and tastes in sporting and
military ammunition changed. The board is installed in a glass-topped
display frame, measuring 25 inches wide and 35 inches tall.
CONDITION: One of the shotshells is loose in the display, otherwise the
display itself is very fine, showing minimal wear. The frame is fine, with
some flaking paint and varnish loss.
