Factory Game Scene Engraved A. H. Fox XE Grade
Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 27242, 12 gauge, 30
inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in
1921. Built with blued steel barrels featuring dual white bead sights on the matted
concave solid rib, “CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL” and “MADE BY A. H. FOX GUN
Co. PHILA. PA. U.S.A.” on the right and left tubes respectively, 1 3/4 inch wedges of leafy scroll
engraving at either breech, and chambers measured 2 5/8 inches with automatic ejectors. The barrels are
fitted to the casehardened boxlock action which displays highly attractive XE Grade pattern engraving consisting
of near full coverage leafy scroll engraving surrounding three oval panel game scenes. The scenes depict a pair of quail in flight on the left, a pair of mallards
in flight on the right, and an alert fox on the underside. The gun features a single selective trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety. The gun is mounted with a
beautifully figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved iron and ebony tip inlay as well as a pistol grip stock with a hard rubber factory grip cap
and a hard rubber buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .733/.727 inches; choke constriction .039/.034 inches;
minimum wall thickness .020/.024 inches; 1 3/4 inch drop at comb; 3 1/16 inch drop at heel; 13 13/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 13 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally refurbished, retaining 99% blue finish, strong remnants of original case colors in the protected areas with the balance a fine silver patina, small crack at the
left of the stock head, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.

Scarce Parker Brothers .410 Bore VHE
Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 217997, 410 gauge, 26 inch
solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in 1926 as one of only 463 manufactured in this configuration per the chart on page 258 of “The
Parker Story” by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote and even fewer still, only 17%, were made with
ejectors. The gun was built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted concave solid rib
which is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A. VULCAN. STEEL”, and chambers measured 3 inches with
automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened sixe 000 frame boxlock action which displays the
standard Grade V zig-zag border engraving with “Parker Bros.”
on either side and features double triggers and a tang mounted
automatic safety. The gun is fitted with a lightly figured and
multi-point checkered splinter forend and a straight grip stock with blank silver inscription
shield and Parker dog’s head buttplate. The above grade, gauge, barrel length, and ejectors are confirmed on page 547 of
“Parker Gun Identification & Serialization” by Price and Fjestad, though the stock is listed in the round knob configuration.
Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .410/.410 inches; choke constriction
.006/.008 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; slight cast-off; weight 5 lbs. 9 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 97% original blue finish on the barrels, nearly all of the reapplied blue on the triggerguard
and lower tang, and 30% original case colors on the action with the balance a fine silver patina. The barrels show a few minor patches
of spotting and a few scratches on the metal. The wood shows a few scratches, crisp checkering on the forend, and sharp recut checkering on the stock.
Mechanically excellent. A great chance to own a scarcely seen American shotgun!
