The barrel, frame, trigger, and hammer
are plated in silver. The cylinder and
cylinder pin are plated in gold. The
revolver is fitted with gold Colt medallion insert ivory grips featuring
a relief carved ox head on both panels. Factory carved ivory grips are
already a rare special order feature. Both panels having a factory carving
is even rarer. Writer cannot remember the last time he saw factory
documented double sided carved ivory grips. A deluxe embellished Colt fit
for a 20th century cowboy poet.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% plus age darkened original silver
plating and original gold plating with some flash marks on the front cylinder
face and light cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with a few
typical age lines, minimal handing marks, crisp carving, and attractive color.
Mechanically excellent. A factory Wilbur Glahn highly embellished Colt Officers
model revolver sold and inscribed to noted cowboy poet E.A. Brininstool that
will take center stage to any DA, Western, or firearms art collection.
Provenance: E.A. Brininstool; The Charles Marx Collection.
Estimate: 16,000 - 27,500
