CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 85% plus original blue finish,
vibrant original case colors on the hammer, aged patina on
the German silver inlays, distinct markings and inscription, and
generally rather mild wear. The grip is very fine with some flaking
of the varnish mainly on the left and general minor overall wear.
The revolver functions but is slightly out of time. The case and
accessories are fine or better, including the stunning gold gilt
charger, with mild age and storage related wear mainly on the case
exterior, including a crack in the lid. Great percussion Colts have
long been the bedrock of the finest and most revered American
gun collections. The Paterson models, individually, are the rarest
and most coveted. Without doubt No. 732 is the fines example of a
banded “flared grip” No. 3 we have had the privileged to offer and
stands in the top 1% of know examples in private circulation.
Provenance: Dr. John B. Arden; The Bobby Smith Collection,
The Nick Shannon Collection.
Estimate: 325,000 - 450,000
