LOT 1351
Auto-Ordnance M1 Thompson
Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully
Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no.
M184A, 45 ACP cal., 10 1/2 inch round bbl.,
parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
post-World War II for commercial sale, and
assembled/refinished using the aforementioned
receiver and World War II components. Originally developed
in 1942 , the U.S. M1 Thompson was a streamlined version of the classic
Thompson SMG intended to simplify the weapon and speed the manufacturing
process. While frills were trimmed, the M1 was still a classic “heavy metal” SMG,
constructed from machined steel with fine hardwood furniture. Blade front and
fixed peep rear sights, with a straight forearm under the smooth barrel, address
and model nomenclature markings on the frame, “108823” on the replacement
World War II triggerguard, simplified selector and safety levers, grooved pistol
grip, fixed buttstock and a green canvas sling. No military inspection marks
are present. The bolt is of the M1 pattern, with an articulated firing pin and
“S” marked on the rear, and the interior of the receiver is marked “QFM184A”.
Included with the lot is a green canvas transport case. Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Fine, with 80% of the refinished parkerized finish, showing areas
of thinning, scattered shallow pitting, and minor dings. The front sight pin is
absent. Stock is fair, with dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This
weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is
registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE)
under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
