Engraved L. Bosis Queen Sidelock Double
Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 021, 12
gauge, 27 5/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/brushed
bright finish, walnut stock. Luciano Bosis got his
start in gunmaking with Galesi and Perazzi before setting out on his own in 1977.
Since then he has built some of the finest guns to come out of Italy and has earned a reputation for excellence. Built with blued steel
chopperlump barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is signed “LUCIANO BOSIS, TRAVAGLIATO
BRESCIA - ITALY”, light engraving at the breech, retailer mark on the left tube, 1988 dated Italian proof marks, import mark on flats, and
2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. Both barrels are stamped “R. LUTEROTTI” for the renowned barrel maker. The barrels are fitted to the
brushed bright Holland & Holland style bar-action sidelock action which displays attractive tight scroll engraving surrounding a trio of
beautifully executed game scenes and continuing onto the toplever, trigger guard, and both tangs, the bottom of which has the serial
number inlaid in gold. The game scenes consist of a trio of flushing pheasant cocks with one taking a load of shot on the left, a flock of
ducks taking off on a pond on the underside, and a nest of fleeing rabbits on the right. The engraving is signed on the triggerplate for
Italian Master Engraver Pietro Parravicini and in the right scene for Italian Master Engraver Angelo Galeazzi. The gun features bushed
firing pins, a single trigger, right hand rolled trigger guard, and a tang mounted manual safety with gold indicator. The gun is fitted with
a highly figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved iron, inlaid Bosis crest, and Anson release as well as a straight
grip stock with diamond shaped hand and checkered bare butt. Includes a maker’s leather flat case with a canvas cover. Barrel and stock
