The revolver is marked with
the two-line address and
patent dates on top of the barrel, while the Smith & Wesson
mark and caliber marking are on the left and right respectively.
The frame is marked with the trademark on the left, while
“MADE IN U.S.A.” is on the right. The matching serial number is
on the butt, rear face of the cylinder, and inside the ejector rod
shroud. The matching assembly number is marked on frame and
crane. It is fitted with a pinned “McGivern” front sight blade with
gold bead, adjustable notch rear sight, a Smith & Wesson marked
grip extension, and a pair of checkered walnut grips with “S&W”
monogram medallions at the tops. The revolver is consecutively
serialized to the previous lot.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% of the original blue finish and
90% of the vibrant
original case colors
on the hammer and
trigger with some
light edge wear
and a cylinder
turn line. The
revarnished grips
are very fine with some
scattered light handling marks and
crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
An excellent .38/44 Outdoorsman revolver with
documented links to Ed McGivern!

mentioned inscription is on the right along with “MADE IN U.S.A.”

is fitted with a pinned “McGivern” front sight blade with gold bead, adjustable notch
rear sight, a Smith & Wesson marked grip extension, and a pair of checkered walnut

CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% of the original blue finish with some light edge
wear, a small area of light spotting at the muzzle, and a cylinder turn line. The
grips are also excellent with a few very light handling marks and crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent. An extremely rare .38/44 Outdoorsman revolver with gold-
inlaid inscription that is connected to both Ed McGivern and another consecutively
numbered revolver!
