CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 80% plus of the original blue finish with some
areas thinned to show a slight plum hue, and a some light edge wear showing a
grey patina. The engraved brass components retain 70% plus of the delicate, original
gold plating with the balance an attractively aged, mellow brass and the engraving
remaining very crisp throughout. The re-oiled wood is also very fine with a few
scattered light dings/scratches and a few faint hairline cracks near the toe. Mechanically
excellent. An exceptionally attractive Winchester Model 1866 that is an exemplary
example of the work of 19th century American Master Engraver Louis D. Nimschke!
