in 1980. This
is an earlier
production
example with
pinned barrel and cylinder counterbored, safety
features which were subsequently deemed unnecessary and
eliminated in 1982 with the Model 629-1. This revolver shows fine factory
executed floral scroll engraving over a matted background. According to
knowledgeable collectors, it is estimated that only 100 of these early pinned
barrel and recessed cylinder Model 629s were engraved by the factory.
The revolver features a ramped orange blade front sight, adjustable
rear sight, wide checkered target hammer, wide smooth trigger, and
a set of goncalo alves grips with silver S&W medallions. Includes a
factory hardwood case and a set of cleaning tools.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, showing only minor handling
evidence. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine.

revolvers produced in this
configuration with the
product code “103595”
having a round-butt frame,
4 inch stovepipe barrel,
and 10-shot alloy cylinder,
according to Supica and
Nahas in “Standard Catalog
of Smith & Wesson”. It has
the standard Smith & Wesson markings throughout. It is fitted with a
ramped, pinned Patridge blade front sight and a micrometer adjustable
notch rear sight, as well as a pair of smooth Goncalo Alves grips with
“S&W” monogram medallions. Includes the original factory box.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original satin glass bead
finish with only the slightest handling evidence including a faint cylinder
turn line. The grips are also excellent with only the slightest handling
marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some light wear
on the outer sleeve. A very rare configuration example of the Model
617-1 revolver series!

frame, 4 inch “no lug” barrel, and 10-shot alloy cylinder. The revolver
has standard Smith & Wesson markings throughout. It is fitted
with a ramped, pinned, Patridge blade front sight and micrometer
adjustable notch rear sight, as well as a pair of finely figured, Goncalo
Alves finger-groove grips. Includes the original box.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% of the original satin glass bead
finish with some slight flaking on the front face of the cylinder,
only the slightest handling evidence, and a light cylinder turn line.
The grips are also excellent with only the slightest handling marks.
Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some light wear on
the outer sleeve. A very rare configuration example of the Model 617
revolver series!

Factory Engraved Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 Double Action
Revolver with Case - Serial no. N499444, 44 Magnum cal., 4 inch
solid rib bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured in 1977/78.
The revolver features standard markings surrounded by attractive Class
A style (75% coverage) floral scrollwork engraving over a matted background on the barrel, frame, cylinder, and
trigger guard. The revolver is fitted with a pair of smooth hardwood grips with silver S&W medallions. Includes a
correct factory hardwood display case and cleaning tools.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue finish, minor handling evidence, faint partial cylinder line, and
crisp engraving. The very fine grips have a few marks and some minor varnish crazing. Mechanically excellent. The
case is very fine.
